Setting Up the Monitor
2-12 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
On/Standby Mode
You can use Standby mode to save power and to hide the main screen between
monitoring sessions.
Note
The CO
2
module has its own On/Standby setting. However, if the monitor is placed in
Standby mode, the CO
2
module goes into Standby mode, regardless of the current CO
2
On/Standby setting.
In Standby mode, the following occurs:
• Monitoring stops.
• Patient records remain in memory.
• If the monitor is not connected to an AC power source, the display is blank.
• If the monitor is connected to an AC power source, a battery icon appears in the
middle of the screen, if configured by your system administrator to display. The color
and size of the bar in the icon indicate the battery charge level. See “Large Battery
Icon” on page 2-11.
To enter Standby mode
1 Briefly press the On/Standby button.
2 In the message window that opens, touch Standby.
The monitor enters Standby mode.
To resume monitoring, briefly press the On/Standby button or touch the touch screen.
Deep Sleep Mode
In Deep Sleep mode, the system shuts down, but uses enough power to maintain the
system clock. Patient records remain in memory.
The monitor enters Deep Sleep mode automatically under certain conditions. You can
also enter Deep Sleep mode manually.
The monitor requests that you enter Deep Sleep mode when the battery temperature
exceeds 60° C. If you do not respond to the message by touching Shut Down in the
message box within 16 to 24 seconds, the monitor automatically enters Deep Sleep
mode.
The monitor automatically enters Deep Sleep mode when:
• The monitor is in Standby mode, but is not connected to an AC power source and
one of the following conditions occurs:
- The monitor remains in Standby mode for more than 30 minutes.
- The battery level drops below 30%.
• The monitor is on, but not connected to an AC power source, and the battery level
drops below 12%.
