Information Bar
The information bar includes the Mode menu, two alarm message panes, and buttons for
controlling audio and responding to alarms. These elements are described in detail
below.
Monitoring Mode Menu
Use the Mode menu to select the appropriate monitoring mode:
Use Spot Check to take vital signs measurements for one patient after another—for
example, during patient rounds. When each patient record is saved, the patient is
automatically discharged from the monitor, but the patient’s record is saved. If
configured to do so, the record can then be automatically exported or hidden. CO

measurements cannot be taken in Spot Check monitoring mode.
Use Interval to monitor a single patient, taking NBP measurements at specified
intervals. When you select this mode, you can specify either an automatic NBP
interval or an NBP interval program on the Interval Settings menu. See “Taking
Automatic NBP Measurements Using NBP Intervals” on page 6-13 for more
information.
Use Continuous to continuously monitor a single patient. When you select this mode,
you can specify the following measurement intervals on the Continuous Settings
menu:
- An interval at which to save all continuously monitored vital signs measurements,
such as SpO

,CO

, pulse, and respiration.
- An NBP Auto Interval or an NBP Interval Program if you want NBP measurements
to be automatically initiated and saved.
For more information about Continuous monitoring mode, see “Completing a Patient
Record in Continuous Monitoring Mode” on page 3-24.
If Alarms Off mode is enabled by your system administrator, it is available as a fourth
selection on the Mode menu. See “Alarms Off Mode” on page 4-16.
Your system administrator can enable or disable any monitoring mode except Spot
Check. The Mode menu displays only the modes that are enabled. Spot Check is always
available.
Caution
In Interval and Continuous monitoring modes, settings such as initial NBP inflation pressure
dynamically recalibrate based on previous measurements for the current patient. Make sure you
select the appropriate monitoring mode to ensure that clinical default settings are correctly applied
to your workflow.
