Managing Patient Information
You use the following features to manage patient information and view patient records:
Patient bar on the main screen
New Patient Menu
Edit Patient Menu
Records menu
Patient Bar
The patient bar displays the primary patient ID and patient type and provides access to
additional patient information. Use the patient bar to:
Admit patients. See “Starting a New Patient Record” on page 3-18.
View basic and expanded ID information for the current patient.
Access the New Patient Menu, Edit Patient Menu, and trend view.
Discharge patients. See “Discharging a Patient” on page 3-32.
The appearance and behavior of the patient bar depends on whether a patient is
currently admitted.
Patient Not Admitted
If patient ID information has not been provided for a patient:
The primary ID displays as Unknown.
The default patient type is displayed.
Touching the Admit button or scanning a patient barcode opens the New Patient
Menu to enable you to admit a patient. See “New Patient Menu” on page 3-4.
