EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 3-15
Patient Identification
Use the on-screen keyboard much as you would use a conventional keyboard:
• Touch one character at a time. Each character you touch appears in the text field
above the keyboard.
• On the alphabetic keyboard only, touch the Shift button to access uppercase letters.
• Touch the Space button to insert a space.
• Touch the Back button to erase characters one at a time.
• Touch OK to confirm what you have entered and close the keyboard.
• Touch Cancel to close the keyboard without saving what you entered.
Patient Identification
Your system administrator can use the QuickCheck workflow feature to require that each
patient ID you enter be successfully identified in the facility database before you can
admit the patient or measure vital signs. If the patient ID is not identified in the database,
a message displays in the lower left of the New Patient Menu.
For information about QuickCheck workflows, see “Understanding QuickCheck
Workflows” on page 12-4.
User Authentication
Your system administrator can use the QuickCheck workflow feature to configure the
monitor so that you are required to enter an operator ID and password before you can
admit a patient and/or before you can view a patient record. Your system administrator
provides you with the required ID and password.
If an operator ID is required, an Operator Login window appears when you attempt to
admit a new patient and/or access patient records. Provide your credentials and touch
the Log On button. When you are logged on, your operator ID appears in the information
bar to the right of the Mode menu. To log off, touch your operator ID in the information
bar, then touch the Log Off button that appears.
In the Operator Login window, you can touch the Skip button and continue admitting
the patient without entering your operator ID and password. However, you will be
required to enter your operator ID and password later.
For information about reviewing patient records before exporting them to an EMR
system, see “Validating Patient Records before Export” on page 3-38.
For information about QuickCheck workflows, see “Understanding QuickCheck
Workflows” on page 12-4.
Your system administrator can configure the monitor to retain the operator ID for up to 8
hours so that you do not have to manually enter your operator ID each time you admit a
new patient. After the configured time period has expired, you may be prompted to enter
your operator ID and password when you admit a new patient.
