Creating a Patient Record
3-20 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
Caution
After you have entered patient information, ensure that the information has been entered correctly,
especially if you entered the information manually.
6 When you are done entering patient information, touch OK.
Notes:
The OK button is unavailable If you have not completed all required fields.
If your system administrator has set the Enforce Patient Type option and you
have not selected a patient type, touching OK generates a message reminding
you to do so. You cannot save patient information without a patient type.
If vital signs measurements were already in progress when you started admitting
the new patient, touching OK generates a message asking if you want to apply
the current vital signs data to the patient you are admitting. If you respond to the
message by touching Yes, all measurements taken while the ID was Unknown
are applied to the new patient. The patient information you just entered will be
retained and applied to the new patient.
You are returned to the main screen, where the patient bar now displays the primary
ID and patient type for the patient. You can touch the patient bar to expand it and
display all the patient information you just entered.
7 Continue with one of the following procedures to complete the patient record:
- “To complete a patient record in Spot Check monitoring mode” on page 3-21
- “To complete a patient record in Interval monitoring mode” on page 3-23
- “To complete a patient record in Continuous monitoring mode” on page 3-25
Completing a Patient Record in Spot Check Monitoring Mode
WARNING
To ensure patient safety, always check that you are using the correct patient ID before you begin
measuring and saving vital signs.
Use Spot Check monitoring mode to save one record for one patient at a time. Each time
you save a record, the patient is discharged, enabling you to move on to the next patient
in your rounds.
To monitor the same patient again, you must readmit the patient as described in “To start
a new patient record” on page 3-18. If the patient ID information you enter matches the
existing ID information for that patient, the new measurements will be saved to that
patient’s record. When you open the Patient Records tab of the Records menu and
select a patient from the list, all records saved for that patient are displayed. See “Trend
View” on page 3-8.
