EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 3-23
Creating a Patient Record
To complete a patient record in Interval monitoring mode
1 After admitting the patient using the procedure “To start a new patient record” on
page 3-18, open the Interval Settings menu. To open the menu:
- If you are already in Interval mode, touch the Set Interval button below the NBP
pane on the main screen.
- If you are not in Interval mode, touch the Mode menu on the main screen and
select Interval.
The Interval Settings menu opens.
Caution
It is critical that you admit the patient before continuing with Step 2 of this procedure. When you
admit a new patient, any previously configured NBP auto interval or interval program is reset to
defaults (as configured by your system administrator). Therefore, if you admit a patient after setting
the interval, automatic NBP measurements will not be taken unless you set the interval again.
2 On the Interval Settings menu, select an NBP auto interval or NBP interval program
and begin taking vital signs measurements. See “Using NBP Auto Interval” on
page 6-15 or “Using NBP Interval Programs” on page 6-16 for details.
The Interval icon appears in the NBP pane to indicate an interval has been
configured.
NBP and all other available measurements are saved to the patient record at the NBP
intervals you specified.
3 Optionally, if QuickCapture is enabled on your monitor, touch the Observations and
Assessments/Pain Index pane to enter additional observations.
The Observations and Assessments menu appears. The fields and icons available in
the menu depend on how QuickCapture has been configured. See “Including
Observations and Assessments in a Patient Record” on page 3-27.
When operating in Interval monitoring mode, you must touch the Save Now button
on the main screen to save manually entered observations and assessments to the
patient record.
Note
If QuickAlerts is configured on your monitor, touching Save Now may generate a
QuickAlerts advisory window that displays EWS scores and recommended actions.
You must review this information and touch Acknowledge in the window to finish
saving the record.
For more information about QuickAlerts, see “QuickAlerts Messages” on page 4-18.
For more information about EWS, see “Working with Early Warning Scoring (EWS)”
on page 3-32.”
