Working with Patient Records
Working with Patient Records
You can work with current patient records or with records that have been saved.
If wireless monitor-to-monitor sharing has been enabled on your system, you can view
records from other monitors.
Notes:
• After you enter patient information and then exit the New Patient Menu, you can no
longer change the Patient Type.
• After a record has been exported successfully, it can no longer be edited.
• If the barcode scanner cannot read a barcode or does not function correctly, you can
unplug the scanner and use the on-screen keyboard to edit patient information.
• Your system administrator can configure the monitor so that records remain visible
for a configured period of time after they are successfully exported. After this period,
records may be hidden from view or removed from the monitor. You can view
exported records from the EMR system to which they were exported.
Accessing Records
To access records for the current patient, you can touch the patient bar or the Records
button on the main screen.
To access saved patient records, you touch the Records button on the main screen to
open the Records menu. In the Records menu, all patient records are listed on one or the
other of the following tabs:
• The Patient Records tab lists all patients for whom a primary ID has been assigned
and at least one vital signs record has been saved.
• The Pending Records tab lists individual vital signs records for patients for whom a
primary ID has not been assigned, but for whom at least one vital signs record has
been saved. The primary ID for these patients is displayed as ID Unknown.
If a QuickCheck workflow is enabled that requires validation before records can be
finalized and exported, unvalidated vital signs records are listed on the Pending
Records tab until they are validated.
Certain QuickCheck workflows may require you to log on before validating records. In
this case, touching the Records button or Pending Records tab opens a Validator
Login window where you must enter your credentials
