Philips HD5730 - Cleaning the Espresso Maker; Initiating the Cleaning Cycle

4 Youcanputaspecialcleaningtabletintothegroundcoffeefunnel.
5 Fill the water tank to the MAX level.
6 Put a bowl with a minimum capacity of 1.5 litres under the spout.
7 Press the OK button.
The cleaning cycle takes up to 15 minutes if the water tank is lled to the
MAX level.
The message ‘APPLIANCE IS CLEANING’ appears on the display
and the cleaning cycle starts
Whenthecleaningcycleisnished,themessage‘CLEANING
DONE’ appears on the display.

1 Remove the Total Hardness Test strip (attached to page 2) from its
wrap. Dip the strip fully into the tap water you use to brew coffee.
Keep the strip in the water for a few seconds. Then remove the strip,
shake off excess water and wait approx. 30 seconds (until it changes
colour and one or more squares turn red).
2 Press the MENU button.
The button lights up.
3 Press the ^ button until the message ‘SET WATER HARDNESS?’
appears on the display.
4 Press the OK button.
5 Press the ^ button until the number on the display coincides with
the number of red squares on the test strip.
For example, if 3 squares on the test strip have turned red, you have to set
water hardness 3.
6 PresstheOKbuttontoconrmthesetwaterhardness.
The coffee maker is now programmed to display the ‘PLEASE
DESCALE!’ message based on the actual hardness of the water you
use.

1 Press the MENU button.
The button lights up.
