The Philips TAB5308 Soundbar, part of the 5000 Series, is an audio system designed to enhance your TV and other device audio experience. It consists of a main soundbar unit and a wireless subwoofer, offering a combined RMS total output power of 70W RMS (+/- 0.5 dB, 10% THD). The system boasts a frequency response of 50 Hz-15 kHz / ±3 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 65 dB (CCIR) / (A-weighted), ensuring clear and dynamic sound. Total Harmonic Distortion is kept below 1%.

Function Description:

The soundbar serves as a central audio output for various devices, including TVs, MP3 players, and Bluetooth-enabled smartphones or tablets. It supports multiple audio input sources, including AUX, Optical, and HDMI (ARC), allowing for flexible connectivity. The wireless subwoofer automatically pairs with the soundbar for enhanced bass, providing a more immersive audio experience. The system features an auto-standby function, switching to standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve power.

Usage Features:

Connectivity:

  • HDMI (ARC): Connects to HDMI ARC input on a TV for high-quality digital audio and simplified control. Requires HDMI-CEC operations to be turned on on the TV.
  • Optical Audio: Connects to an optical audio output on a TV or digital device. The TV audio output must be set to PCM.

  • Manual pairing is possible if the connection is lost: press the PAIR button on the subwoofer, switch the soundbar to AUX, press and hold the soundbar's power button for five seconds to reset, then press the power button again to initiate automatic pairing.
  • Subwoofer LED indicator status: fast blinking red for pairing, solid blue for connected, slow blinking red for disconnected, solid red for standby.

Wall Mounting:

  • The soundbar can be wall-mounted using the provided wall mount kit (brackets, screws, dowels).
  • It is crucial to ensure the wall can support the soundbar's weight and to use screws of suitable length and diameter (3.0-3.5mm/0.12"-0.14" diameter, >25mm/0.98" length).

Maintenance Features:

Product Care:

  • Clean the product only with a dry microfiber cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the apparatus to rain or moisture, and do not place liquid-filled objects on it.

Environmental Care:

  • The product is designed with high-quality, recyclable materials.
  • Dispose of old products and batteries according to local regulations, as they contain materials that should not be discarded with normal household waste. Refer to European Directives 2012/19/EU for products and 2013/56/EU for batteries.

Troubleshooting:

  • No sound: Check audio cable connections, reset the soundbar to factory settings, select the correct audio input, and ensure the soundbar is not muted.
  • Distorted sound/echo: If playing TV audio through the soundbar, ensure the TV's internal speakers are muted.
  • Bluetooth connection issues: Verify the device supports compatible profiles, Bluetooth is enabled on the device, the device is correctly connected, and no other Bluetooth device is currently connected to the soundbar.
  • Poor Bluetooth audio quality/disconnections: Move the Bluetooth device closer to the soundbar, remove obstacles, and turn off Wi-Fi on the Bluetooth device to avoid interference.
