EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
3.4.3 ENGINE START IN FLIGHT
The following procedures address the most common causes for engine loss.
NOTE: please refer to Rotax 912 iS series Operators Manual for additional
and detailed information.
NOTE: Engine Start in flight may be performed during 1g flight anywhere
within the normal operating envelope of the airplane.
1 Master Switch CHECK ON
2 Fuel Selector CHECK/SWITCH TANK
3 LANE A/B switches CHECK ON
4 Fuel pump - aux ON
5 BCKP SW (backup battery) ON
6 Throttle Lever ~50% OPEN
7 Starter ENGAGE
8 Throttle Lever slowly INCREASE
9 Land AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
NOTE: after a safe landing perform inspection to determine what caused
the engine failure.
NOTE: If engine does not start, perform Landing Emergencies procedures.
3.4.4. ENGINE PARTIAL POWER LOSS
Indications of a partial power loss include fluctuating RPM, reduced or
fluctuating manifold pressure, low oil pressure, high oil temperature and a
rough-running engine. Mild engine roughness in flight may be caused by
one or more spark plugs becoming fouled. A sudden engine roughness or
misfiring is usually evidence of an ignition system malfunction.
NOTE: Low or no oil pressure may be indicative of an imminent engine fail-
ure.
