To prevent this, use low range when loading onto a pickup or tall trailer, starting out on steep inclines, hauling heavy cargo, plowing, or when stuck in mud or snow. If you are climbing over large objects from a stopped position, shift to low range and use quick, aggressive throttle. Also, ensure you warm the engine for at least 5 minutes in low ambient temperatures, and use the throttle quickly and effectively. Avoid driving at low RPM or ground speed. Always warm up the belt and use the recommended belt. If belt slippage occurs due to water or snow, dry out the PVT. If the belt has failed, remove debris from the clutch box and install a new belt.
