Verify that the wireless remote is powered on. Inspect all connections to ensure they are correctly connected. A direct connection of the wired handlebar switch from the vehicle's main wire harness to the contactor can help determine if the winch will operate directly. Also, check the fusebox for the 10A accessory circuit and voltage, especially on the orange wires near the steering post.

  If your Polaris Automobile Accessories winch is operating too slowly, first ensure the gear knob is set to the appropriate gear. Remember that the winch is designed to operate slowly in Low gear. If it's in High gear, check for any load on the rope or if the rope is tangled within the spool area. Clear any obstructions and ensure the rope isn't bound up or under tension.

If the winch only operates outward, make sure the black rubber puck isn't touching the aluminum fairlead. If it operates inward even when the puck is touching, check the connections of the Autostop control box. Also, if the winch operates inward but not outward when the rubber puck is touching the fairlead, verify the wire colors match on both sides of the connectors to prevent switched wires.

  If your Polaris Automobile Accessories winch won't change gears, it's likely because the rope is under load. The gears are intentionally difficult to shift under tension to prevent accidents. Ensure there's no tension on the rope and that it isn't bunched up or bound inside the spool area. Briefly operate the winch before attempting to shift gears again.
