MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Lights
When servicing a halogen lamp, don’t t ouch the lamp with bare
fingers. Oil from your skin leaves a residue, causing a hot spot that
will shorten the life of the lamp.
Headlight Beam Adjustment
1. Place the vehicle on a level surface
with the headlight
approximately 25 ft. (7.6 m)
from a wall.
2. Measure the distance from
the floor to the center of t he
headlight and make a mark on
the wall at t he same height.
3. Start the engine and switch on the
headlight.
4. Observe t he headlight aim. The most intense part of the headlight
beam should be aimed 8 (20.3 cm) below the mark placed on the
wall in step 2 NOTE: Include the weight of a rider on the seat
while performing this step.
5. Adjust beam to desired position by turning adjustment screws (1)
in headlight cover as follows:
Turn the right screw clockwise to adjust to the left.
Turn the left screw clockwise to adjust to the right.
Turn the bottom screw clockwise to adjust upward.
Brake Lights
When the brake pedal is depressed, the console brake light comes on.
Check the brake light before each ride.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Depress the brake pedal. The brake light should come on after
about 10mm (0.4 in.) of pedal travel. If the light doesn’t come on,
check the bulb.
WARNING
Poor lighting while driving can result in severe injury or death.
Headlight and taillight lenses become dirty during normal operation.
Wash the headlights frequently to maintain lighting quality.
Hot components can cause serious burns to skin. Do not service
the headlamps until they’ve cooled sufficiently.
