If you're using old or non-recommended fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel. For incorrectly installed spark plug wires, incorrect ignition timing, or mechanical failure, consult your Polaris dealer. Also, check all ignition connections and tighten any that are loose. If water is present in the fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel.

If there's water in the fuel, drain the fuel system and refuel. If you're using old or non-recommended fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or defects and replace if necessary. Also, check for spark at the spark plug and address if there is no spark. If there is water or fuel in the crankcase, immediately see your Polaris dealer. Ensure the battery has sufficient voltage by recharging it to 12.8 VDC. For mechanical failures, consult your Polaris dealer.

Also, when starting out on a steep incline, be sure to use low range. Driving at low RPM or ground speed (3-7 MPH) can also cause wear, so drive at a higher speed or use low range more frequently. Insufficient warm-up at low ambient temperatures can also be a factor; warm the engine for at least 5 minutes, advancing the throttle to about 1/8 in short bursts with the transmission in neutral. Slow clutch engagement can cause issues, so use the throttle quickly and effectively. When towing, pushing, or plowing, use low range only.
