  If the engine of your Polaris Utility Vehicle is backfiring, begin by inspecting, cleaning, and/or replacing the spark plug if it shows signs of weakness. Check the spark plug gap and heat range, setting the gap to the correct specifications or replacing the plug if necessary. If you're using old or non-recommended fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel. For incorrectly installed spark plug wires, incorrect ignition timing, or mechanical failure, consult your Polaris dealer. Also, check all ignition connections and tighten any that are loose. If water is present in the fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel.

  If your Polaris Utility Vehicle's engine turns over but fails to start, first, refuel the vehicle if it's out of fuel. If the fuel filter is clogged, you should see your Polaris dealer. If there's water in the fuel, drain the fuel system and refuel. If you're using old or non-recommended fuel, replace it with fresh, recommended fuel. Inspect the spark plug for fouling or defects and replace if necessary. Also, check for spark at the spark plug and address if there is no spark. If there is water or fuel in the crankcase, immediately see your Polaris dealer. Ensure the battery has sufficient voltage by recharging it to 12.8 VDC. For mechanical failures, consult your Polaris dealer.

  If your Polaris Utility Vehicle's engine doesn't turn over, recharge the battery to 12.8 VDC if the battery voltage is low. Check all battery connections and tighten if loose. Also, check all solenoid connections and tighten if loose. Inspect, clean, and reinstall the electronic control box connectors if they are loose.
