Gearcases
Rear Gearcase
Always check and change the rear gearcase oil at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Main-
tenance Chart beginning on page 50. Maintain the fluid level at the bottom of the fill hole
threads. Do not overfill.
Refer to the Gearcase Specifications Chart on page
56 for recommended lubricants, capacities and
torque specifications.
The fill plug is located on the rear of the gearcase.
The drain plug is located on the bottom of the
gearcase.
Oil Check
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Remove the fill plug. Check the oil level.
3. Add the recommended oil as needed. Do not
overfill.
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
Oil Change
1. Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Place a drain pan under the drain plug.
3. Remove the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain com-
pletely.
4. Clean and reinstall the drain plug with a new seal-
ing washer. Torque to specification.
5. Remove the fill plug. Add the proper amount of the
recommended oil. Do not overfill.
6. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
7. Check for leaks.
8. Dispose of used oil properly.
