FEATURES AND CONTROLS
Choke
The choke assists in starting a cold engine. Refer to the engine starting
procedure on page 47 for correct choke and throttle settings during
starting.
Fuel Valve
The fuel valve (1) is located on the left side of
the vehicle, below the fender. It has t hree
positions:
OFF: For vehicle storage and when transporting.
ON: For normal operation.
RES: For res erve supply if main
supply is exhausted.
NOTE: There’s about a 7 to 10 mile (11.2 to 16 km) range on
reserve gas. Always refill the gas tank as soon as possible
after using the reserve supply.
Always return valve to ON position
after refueling.
Fuel Tank
The fuel tank filler cap (2) is l ocated
directly below t he handlebar. Use
either leaded or unleaded gasoline with
a minimum pump octane number of
87=(R+ M/2) octane. Refer to the
speci fications section beginning on
page 103 for capacities.
Fuel Filter
Replace the in-line fuel filter at the intervals outlined in the Periodic
Maintenance Chart beginning on page 65. Do not attempt to clean the
fuel filter.
