Assembly

Attaching the Bar & Chain

Loosen nuts, remove spacer, align pin, mount bar and chain, install clamp.

Chain Tension

Checking Tension

Check if chain rotates freely but does not sag off the bar.

Adjusting Tension

Use adjusting screw to move pin, tighten bar clamp nuts.

Fueling & Lubrication

Fueling the Engine

Mix unleaded gasoline with 2-cycle oil at 40:1 ratio.

Bar and Chain Lubrication

Keep oil tank filled; use Poulan oil or SAE 30 oil; thin in freezing weather.

Starting

Cold Weather Starting

Use full choke, warm up engine before squeezing throttle.

Warm Engine Starting

Use off choke, press primer bulb, pull rope until engine starts.

Difficult Starting / Flooded Engine

Clear excess fuel by following warm engine procedure.

Cutting Methods

Important Points

Cut wood only, stop if chain hits object, keep chain out of dirt.

Reach full speed before cutting, use light pressure, release throttle after cut.
