Preparing and Adjusting Your Snow Thrower
Discharge chute
Auger Control
Periodic adjustment to the auger control cable may be required due to normal stretch and wear on
the belt. Adjustment is needed immediately if the augers:
a. Continue to turn with the auger control disengaged, or
b. During operation, augers seem to hesitate turning while the engine maintains speed.
NOTE: Perform the following test before operating the snow thrower for the first time and at the start
of each winter season. Check the adjustment of the auger control as follows:
When the auger control is released and in the disengaged “up” position, the cable should have
very little slack, but should NOT be tight.
In a well-ventilated area, start the snow thrower engine. Refer to Starting the Engine in the
Operation section on this manual. Make sure the fuel control knob is set in the ON position.
While standing in the operator’s position (behind the snow thrower) engine the auger.

2. The discharge chute handle controls the direction of
the snow stream. Move the handle to the left or right to
position the discharge chute.

1. The chute deflector on the top of the discharge chute
controls the height of the snow stream. Loosen both
chute deflector knobs to raise or lower the deflector to
the desired height of snow you wish you to throw.
Tighten the knobs to secure the deflector.
