Overview

This document describes the PL600H/PL1000H 24V DC Motor Sliding Gate Openers, designed for residential use. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety and proper usage.

The PL600H/PL1000H is an electromechanical gearmotor system for automating sliding gates. Its primary function is to open and close gates for residential properties, offering convenience and enhanced security. The system is designed to operate with electricity, and while back-up batteries are optional, they are intended only for emergency operation during power failures, not for normal use. In the event of a power outage, the gearmotor can also be manually released using a special key, allowing the gate to be moved by hand.

The core of the system is the gearmotor, which includes an electronic control unit and a connector for an optional radio control receiver. This integrated design allows for various control methods and ensures smooth operation. The system is equipped with several accessories that enhance its functionality and safety.

One of the key usage features is remote control via the PR-1 Radio Transmitter. This transmitter has two buttons: one for "open-stop-close mode" and another for "pedestrian mode," allowing users to control the gate's movement from a distance. The "open-stop-close mode" enables full gate operation, while the "pedestrian mode" allows for partial opening, useful for foot traffic without fully opening the gate. The system also supports external control devices like the PKS-1 Key Selector and the PPB-1 Push Button. The PKS-1 Key Selector is designed for outdoor use, allowing gate operation without the radio transmitter, while the PPB-1 Push Button is for indoor use.

Safety is a paramount feature of the PL600H/PL1000H system. It includes PH-2 Photocells, which are security devices designed to detect obstacles in the gate's path. These photocells consist of a transmitter (TX) and a receiver (RX) installed on opposite sides of the gate. If the optical axis between them is broken by an obstacle, the gate's movement will be interrupted to prevent accidents. Additionally, the PF-1 Flashing Light serves as a visual warning, blinking when the gate is moving or three seconds before it starts to move, alerting users and passersby to potential hazards. The system also incorporates an "Over current reverse setting" (FA function) which allows the gate to reverse its movement upon detecting an obstacle, with adjustable sensitivity and reversal duration.

The control unit features an LED display that provides feedback on the system's status and programmable functions. For instance, "N-L" indicates that the system learning is not done, "RUN" signifies normal operation, "LEA" indicates entry into learning mode, and "ARN" shows that system learning is in progress. This visual feedback helps users understand the system's state and troubleshoot issues.

Programmable functions offer a high degree of customization for the gate's operation. Users can adjust the opening direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise), set automatic closing times (from 5 to 180 seconds or no automatic closing), and configure the motor speed (% full speed) for different operational phases (operation, study speed, middle operation). The deceleration setting allows for adjustment of the distance over which the gate slows down before reaching its limit, and the deceleration speed can also be customized. The "Over current setting" (F7 function) allows adjustment of the motor's running force to match the gate's weight, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

The "Open Partially" (F8 function), also known as "Pedestrian mode," allows users to set the duration of partial opening, ranging from 3 to 18 seconds. The "Pre-flashing" (F9 function) can be set to either blink the flashing light when the gate starts to move or 3 seconds before, providing an early warning. The system also allows for configuration of external device control functions, assigning specific actions (e.g., open-stop-close, partial open) to different buttons on the radio transmitter or external devices.

Installation of the PL600H/PL1000H system requires careful attention to detail and adherence to local electrical and building regulations. The manual provides detailed steps for preparing the motor installation, including checking gate dimensions and weight, ensuring a horizontal gate level, and verifying the sturdiness of the installation plate. It also describes the process of installing the gearmotor on gates with or without a rack, including laying conduits for power cables, fitting bent bins into the foundation, pouring concrete, and securing the gearmotor. Proper spacing between the rack and pinion (1-2 mm) is crucial to prevent the gate from weighing on the gearmotor. Limit switch brackets are installed to define the gate's open and closed positions, ensuring it stops safely before mechanical stops.

For electrical connections, the manual outlines how to connect photocells, flashing lights, key selectors, and push buttons to the control unit. It emphasizes that power supply connections should be carried out by a qualified electrician, ensuring all wires are firmly connected and the power supply cable is equipped with short circuit and leakage protection.

Maintenance is essential for ensuring the long-term safety and performance of the gate-automated system. The manual recommends weekly testing of the gate-automated system and a professional check and maintenance at least every six months by qualified installation personnel. This includes verifying the proper functioning of all devices, such as photocells, flashing lights, and control units, and checking the gate movements. If any issues arise that are not covered in the manual, users are advised to contact qualified installation personnel.

The system also includes a "Green Box" (optional) for power saving. When the gate opener is in standby mode, the Green Box allows it to enter a power-saving mode, indicated by a red LED light. When the gate opener starts operation, the red LED turns off, and power-saving mode is deactivated. However, it's important to note that if loop detectors or photocells requiring constant power consumption are installed, the Green Box should not be used.

Troubleshooting guidance is provided for common issues, such as an overheated back-up battery, the radio transmitter not controlling the gate, or the gate not starting. Solutions include checking wiring connections, replacing batteries or fuses, verifying transmitter memorization, and adjusting programmable functions like motor force or gate opening direction.

The PL600H/PL1000H system is designed to be a reliable and user-friendly solution for residential sliding gate automation, offering a blend of convenience, safety, and customizable features.
