portionofthemuginsteadofthecoffeemakerbase.
NOTE: Anothermethodforpumpingthewaterisbyplacingonehandovertheother(Fig.D).However,
donotusethismethodwhenusingtallmugs,suchastravelmugs.
•Usingthepalmofyourhand,graduallypressdownonthepumpcap,keepingyourhanddownuntilthe
coffeeorteaceasestoow.Releaseandallowthepumptoreturntotheoriginalpositionandpressdown
again.Repeatthisprocessuntilallthewaterisexpelledthroughthesingleservepackandintoyourcoffee
mug.Youwillhearaswooshwhenallofthewaterhasbeenexpelled.

coffeemakeronaplateorinthesinktocatchany

To Prepare Hot Cocoa and Other Beverages
WhenusingyourMyJo

coffeemakertoprepareotherbeverages,suchashotcocoa,cappuccino,orhotcider,
BEFOREinsertingthesingleservepackintotheholder,placethebaseoveryourmug.Thiswillallowany
powderresiduetobecontainedinyourmugoncethepackispuncturedsincethesetypesofsingleservebeveragesdonothavealter.
Fortherstuse,llthewaterreservoirtothe6-ounceline.Forsubsequentuses,adjusttheamountofwaterasdesired.
CARE AND CLEANING
1. Unscrewthebasefromthereservoir.Turnthebaseoveranduseyourngertopushthebottomoftheusedsingleservepackout
oftheholder.Discardthepack.Caution!Thereisasharpneedleinthepackholder.Topreventinjury,donotplacengersinthe
packholder.
2. Pullthepumpoffofthereservoirandwashthepump,reservoir,andbaseinwarm,soapywater.Rinse
anddry.Do not wash the MyJo
™
coffee maker in the dishwasher.
3.Thereisasiliconevalvelocatedintheinsidebottomofthereservoir.Ifyounoticethevalvecontains
coffeegroundsorresidue,youshouldremoveitforcleaning.Theeasiestwaytodothisisbygently
pokingthevalveatananglefromunderneaththereservoirwithabluntobject(Fig.E),suchasaQ-tip*
cottonswabortheeraserendofapencil.
NOTE:Thereisaslitinthecenterofthevalvesopushgentlyontheouteredgeofthevalve.Washthe
valveinwarm,soapywater.
Rinseandrepositionthevalveintheinsidebottomofthereservoir.Usethetipofyourindexngeror
ngernailtopresstheouteredgetightlyinthegrooveontheoorofthereservoir.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (Troubleshooting)
Water is seeping out between the base and reservoir. What is happening?
Youprobablydonothavethebasescrewedontightlytothewaterreservoir.Tightenandrellthereservoirwithwater.
I notice water is leaking out of the reservoir when it’s not attached to the base. Why?
Thereareacoupleofthingsthatmaybecausingthis:
•Thereisasiliconevalvelocatedintheinsidebottomofthereservoir.Thevalvemaynotbeseatedproperly.Usethetipofyourindex
ngeroryourngernailtopressaroundtheedgeofthevalvesoittssnuglyintothegrooveontheoorofthereservoir.
•Thevalvemaybedirty.Removethevalvefromthereservoirandcleanitasinstructedaboveinstep3ofthe“CareandCleaning”
section.
When I press down on the pump nothing seems to be happening. What am I doing wrong?
Youmaynothavethepumpfullyattachedtothereservoirandairisescaping.Besuretopressallthewayaroundthepumpedgesothe
ridgedportion(seeFig.A,page2)isfullyengagedinsidethereservoirrim.
Youalsomaynotbeapplyingenoughpressureasyouarepumping.Standsoyouaredirectlyoverthecoffeemakerandpressonthe
pump.Holdthepumpdownuntilthecoffeeceasestoow,releaseandallowthepumptoreturntoitsoriginalposition,andrepeat
process.
