Overview

The PRx Performance 89" Profile® ONE Rack with Multi-Grip Bar is a wall-mounted squat rack designed for home gyms, offering a space-saving solution for strength training. This rack is engineered to fold up against the wall when not in use, making it ideal for environments where floor space is at a premium.

Function Description:

The Profile® ONE Rack serves as a robust platform for various strength training exercises, primarily squats, bench presses, and overhead presses, when combined with a barbell and weights. The integrated Multi-Grip Bar provides multiple grip options for pull-ups and chin-ups, targeting different muscle groups and adding versatility to upper body workouts. The rack's folding mechanism allows users to quickly deploy it for workouts and then fold it away, maximizing usable space in a garage or home gym. Gas shocks assist in the smooth and controlled movement of the rack during deployment and storage.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Rack Height: 89 inches (upright height).
  • Wall Bracket Spacing: Designed for mounting to wood studs with standard 12”, 16”, or 24” spacing. The rack itself mounts to 48” spaced studs.
  • Wall Clearance (Deployed): The rack depth varies based on ceiling height and installation method. Standard installation (for ceilings 107” or taller) results in a rack depth of 21.75 inches. Modified installations for shorter ceilings will result in shallower depths (e.g., 16 inches for a 94” ceiling).
  • Wall Clearance (Folded): The rack folds flat against the wall, minimizing its footprint.
  • Required Wall Width: 32 inches of clear space on either side of the rack is recommended to allow for the use of a 20kg barbell.
  • Ceiling Height Requirement: Standard installation requires ceilings 107” or taller. A detailed table is provided for modified installations for ceilings between 94” and 106”.
  • Mounting Hardware: Includes 5/16" x 2-1/2" lag screws (8), 5/16" flat washers (8), 5/8" flat washers (20), 5/8" lock nuts (10), 5/8" x 3-1/2" hex bolts (4), 5/8" x 1-3/4" hex bolts (4), 5/8" x 4" hex bolts (2), and flange nuts (8).
  • Components:
    • Left Wall Bracket (2)
    • Right Wall Bracket (2)
    • Multi-Grip Bar (1)
    • 89" Upright (2)
    • Bent Hitch Pin (1)
    • Plastic Spacer (8)
    • Linkage Arm (4)
    • Gas Shocks (4)

Usage Features:

  • Space-Saving Design: The primary feature is its ability to fold vertically against the wall, making it an excellent choice for small spaces or multi-purpose rooms.
  • Multi-Grip Bar: Offers various grip positions for pull-ups, chin-ups, and other bodyweight exercises, enhancing upper body training options.
  • Assisted Folding Mechanism: Gas shocks are integrated to facilitate smooth and controlled folding and unfolding of the rack, reducing manual effort and enhancing safety.
  • Adjustable Installation: The manual provides clear guidelines and a table for modified installations to accommodate different ceiling heights (down to 94 inches), ensuring the rack can be installed in a variety of home environments.
  • Floor Slope Accommodation: Instructions detail how to adjust installation for floors that slope to the left or right, ensuring a level and stable rack.
  • Two-Person Installation: The installation process is designed to be completed by two people, especially for lifting and positioning the rack components, which enhances safety and ease of assembly.
  • Tool List Provided: A comprehensive list of required tools (wrenches, sockets, ratchet, level, plumb bob, drill bit, cordless drill, impact driver, stud finder, tape measure, pencil) is included, ensuring users are prepared for installation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pivot Point Care: Users are advised not to overtighten pivot points during assembly. Overtightening can lead to a "stiff" rack that does not move freely, indicating that proper tension at these points is crucial for smooth operation. This suggests that periodic checks of these pivot points for proper tension might be beneficial to maintain optimal folding/unfolding performance.
  • Secure Mounting: The installation emphasizes securely fastening wall brackets to studs using lag screws and washers, which is critical for the rack's stability and safety during use. Regular checks of these mounting points for tightness are implied for long-term safety.
  • Gas Shock Functionality: The gas shocks are integral to the folding mechanism. While no specific maintenance is detailed for the shocks, their proper function is key to the rack's ease of use. Any issues with the shocks would likely require replacement.
  • General Inspection: As with any fitness equipment, regular visual inspection of all bolts, nuts, and structural components for wear, damage, or loosening would be a standard maintenance practice to ensure continued safe operation.
