The PulseTech Xtreme Charge® XC400 (Model: 200X010) is a 12V 4 Amp conditioning and maintenance charger designed to extend the life and improve the performance of all types of 12V lead-acid batteries. This device utilizes patented Pulse Technology to minimize the size of damaging lead sulfate crystals, thereby increasing the duty and life cycles of batteries by up to three times.
Function Description:
The XC400 operates through a multi-stage charging process that includes evaluation, desulfation, bulk charging, and maintenance.
- Evaluation (TEST): Upon initial connection, the Xtreme Charge® evaluates the battery's current capacity and condition. This step determines the appropriate charge rate and includes a "Bad Battery" indication if the battery is faulty and cannot be recharged. The red "Test" LED illuminates during this phase.
- Desulfation: The patented PULSE conditioning minimizes lead sulfate crystal size, enhancing battery performance and life cycles. This is a continuous process integrated throughout the charging cycle.
- Charging (BULK Charge): A proprietary microprocessor-controlled integrated charging process measures both voltage and current, applying only the amount of charge the battery can accept at any given time. The XC400 has a bulk charge capability of 4 Amps, allowing it to rapidly and safely recharge discharged batteries. The green "Charging" light indicates this phase.
- Conditioning (PULSING): As the battery conditions, three green "Pulsing" LEDs light sequentially. This patented Pulse Technology enables the battery to accept and maintain its maximum charge.
- Maintenance (Float Charge): Once fully charged, the green "100%" light illuminates, and the "Charging" light turns off, indicating the charger is providing a float charge. The XC400 can be left connected indefinitely to maintain the battery at its proper operating voltage and peak condition, preventing overcharging and extending its operating life.
