The MistAire Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier, model PEHUMIDIF, is a tabletop device designed to add moisture to the air in your home or office, helping to alleviate dry air conditions. It operates using ultrasonic technology to produce a cool mist.
Function Description
The primary function of the MistAire humidifier is to generate a cool mist to increase the humidity level in a room. This is achieved through an ultrasonic disk that vibrates at a high frequency, converting water into a fine mist that is then dispersed into the air. The device is equipped with a 2-speed mist control, allowing users to select between a low or high moisture output to suit their preferences and the room's needs. An integrated night light feature provides ambient illumination, which can be turned on or off independently of the mist output. The mist director, located at the top of the unit, can be rotated 360 degrees, enabling users to direct the mist flow in any desired direction. For safety, the humidifier includes a low water level indicator that changes from green to red and automatically shuts off the unit when the water tank is nearly empty, preventing damage to the device. Additionally, the power automatically shuts off if the water tank is removed from the base during operation.
Usage Features
Setting up the MistAire humidifier involves selecting a firm, level, and flat surface, ensuring it is at least six inches away from walls or objects for proper airflow. It should be placed on a water-resistant surface to prevent potential water damage to furniture or flooring. The humidifier is filled by separating the water tank from the base, flipping the tank over, and opening the tank lid by turning it to the left. Cool, clean water is then poured directly into the tank; hot or boiling water should not be used. After filling, the tank lid must be firmly secured by turning it to the right, and the tank reattached to the base. The device is operated via a single power button, which cycles through different modes: Mode 1 (Low Speed, Night Light OFF), Mode 2 (Low Speed, Night Light ON), Mode 3 (High Speed, Night Light ON), Mode 4 (High Speed, Night Light OFF), and Off Mode (Night Light OFF). This intuitive control allows for easy adjustment of both mist intensity and night light function. Users are advised not to place the product on cloth, carpet, or other absorbent surfaces, as this may block the air inlet. It is also important to avoid placing the mist spout directly at objects or people. The device is designed for use with clean or distilled water; hard water areas may necessitate more frequent cleaning.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining the performance and longevity of the MistAire humidifier. Before any servicing, the unit must always be unplugged. General cleaning involves pouring out excess water from the base and washing it with fresh water, using the included cleaning brush and a soft cloth. The base should not be submerged in water, and water should not enter the dry air exhaust port. The water tank should be emptied, and the mist nozzle and mist tube cleaned with fresh water and a bottle cleaning brush (not included). The outer surface of the unit can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. If water accumulates on the surface during use, reducing humidity and drying the exterior with a cloth is recommended.
Descaling is an important maintenance task, especially in hard water areas, and may be required weekly or every other week. To descale, unplug the humidifier, remove the tank, and empty all water from the base and tank. The ultrasonic disk, located in the center of the base unit, should be gently cleaned using ONLY the enclosed cleaning brush to remove buildup and deposits. It is crucial not to scrub or scrape the ultrasonic disk with anything other than the provided brush. If scale becomes difficult to remove, a mixture of 1 tsp. white vinegar and 1 tsp. water can be poured into the base and allowed to stand for 5 minutes. After this, all interior surfaces should be cleaned with a soft cloth or brush, and the base thoroughly rinsed with water to remove scale and vinegar solution. The mist nozzle and mist tube in the water tank should also be checked and cleaned as needed. To prevent mineral deposits or "white dust" in hard water areas, the use of distilled water is recommended, or a decalcification cartridge or humidifier cleaner capsule can be used. Harsh detergents or cleaning chemicals should not be used on the unit or water tank. For end-of-season storage, the humidifier should be completely dry before being packed in its original carton and stored in a cool, dry location; water should never be left in the base or tank during storage. Users are cautioned not to attempt to open the motor housing themselves, as this will void the warranty and could cause damage or personal injury.
