Overview

The Quooker PRO3-VAQ B is a sophisticated boiling water system designed for modern kitchens, offering both boiling water and mixed water from a single tap. The system comprises a vacuum-insulated tank, which is connected to the cold water supply under the sink and to either a Nordic boiling-water tap or a Fusion tap. This design ensures that the water inside the tank is electrically heated to approximately 110°C and maintained at this temperature, providing instant access to boiling water.

A key feature of the Quooker system is its integrated HiTAC® water filter, which stands for High Temperature Activated Carbon. This filter purifies the water before it is dispensed, ensuring that users receive optimally purified water for drinking and cooking. The purification process is a continuous benefit, enhancing the quality of water used daily.

For safety, both the Nordic boiling-water tap and the Fusion tap are equipped with a childproof push-and-turn handle. This handle is easily identifiable by its industrial ribbing, providing a tactile cue for users. An additional safety measure is the red light that illuminates on the underside of the tap when the handle is touched, serving as a clear visual alert that the tap is dispensing boiling water. The Nordic boiling-water tap also features height adjustability, allowing users to set it to a safe and convenient position. Both tap types are well-insulated to prevent accidental burns from contact with the tap's surface. Despite these extensive safety precautions, the manual emphasizes the inherent hazards of using boiling water and advises against unsupervised use by children, recommending that new users familiarize themselves with the usage instructions.

The installation process for the Quooker system is designed to be straightforward, facilitated by a comprehensive connection kit that includes the necessary Quooker inlet valve. The manual provides detailed steps for installing both the Nordic and Fusion taps, covering drilling the tap hole, fitting the tap, connecting the water supply, and finally connecting the tank to the tap. It highlights the importance of ensuring that the tank, inlet valve, and electrical socket remain easily accessible for future servicing.

Maintenance of the Quooker system is crucial for its longevity and continued performance. The HiTAC® filter cartridge is recommended to be changed every five years to ensure optimal water purification. In areas with hard water, descaling the tank should be performed more regularly to prevent mineral buildup. It is explicitly stated that the Quooker should not be connected to a deionised water device or a water softener that reduces the pH value, as this could impact the system's functionality or water quality.

The Quooker tank is supplied with a UK 3-pin plug and requires a standard 13 amp earthed socket for electrical connection. The manual stresses the importance of not switching on the tank until it is completely filled with water. After installation and filling, the tank needs to be switched on, and its entire content of boiling water must be flushed out once before initial use to clear any activated carbon from the new filter, which may initially cause a harmless black colouring in the water.

The taps are also equipped with a light ring that indicates when the heating element is in operation. This ring lights up when touched, drawing attention to the fact that boiling water can be dispensed. The 'Q' symbol on the tank's lid serves as the on/off switch for the system.

In case of service or disconnection, the manual outlines a clear procedure: first, switch off the Quooker using the on/off switch on the lid, leaving the plug in the socket. Then, drain the boiling water tap until the water runs cold. Next, isolate the system by shutting off the main water tap or the angle stopcock for cold water, confirming depressurization by opening the tap again. Finally, disconnect by unplugging the LED cable, releasing hose connections, pulling out the electrical plug, removing the inlet combination, and reconnecting the cold water hose to the angle stopcock. This ensures a safe and systematic shutdown of the device.

The Quooker system is designed for ease of use and safety, providing a convenient source of boiling water while incorporating features that protect users and ensure the quality of the dispensed water. Regular maintenance, as outlined in the guide, will help maintain its performance and extend its lifespan.
