Overview

The Quooker COMBI system is an innovative kitchen appliance designed to provide instant boiling water and hot mixer water from a single tap. This integrated system consists of a vacuum-insulated tank, a specialized tap (Nordic single tap, Fusion tap, or Flex tap), and various connection components, all designed for installation under the sink.

Function Description

At its core, the Quooker COMBI system heats water electrically to approximately 108°C within its vacuum-insulated tank and maintains this temperature. When boiling water is dispensed, cold water simultaneously flows back into the tank and is automatically heated, ensuring a continuous supply. If the entire boiling water content is used in one go, the system requires about 20 minutes to reheat.

A key feature of the Quooker COMBI is its ability to supply instant hot mixer water in addition to boiling water. This is achieved by mixing boiling water from the Quooker tank with cold water from the mains supply within a thermostatic mixing valve. This valve ensures that the outgoing hot water temperature remains constant, and users can adjust this temperature between 40°C and 60°C using a grey knob on the valve. The mixing valve is also equipped with a safety mechanism to prevent boiling water from flowing out of the mixer tap in case of a loss in water pressure.

Before water leaves the tank, it undergoes purification by a HiTAC® (High Temperature Activated Carbon) water filter. This filter ensures optimally purified boiling water. To prolong the filter's lifespan, the water used for mixing the hot water is not filtered.

Usage Features

The Quooker system incorporates several safety features to ensure safe operation. The light ring on the tap illuminates when boiling water is being dispensed, serving as a visual warning to the user. Additionally, the Nordic single tap is height-adjustable, and all tap types (Nordic single, Fusion, and Flex) are fully insulated to prevent accidental burns.

The system is designed for ease of use, with a simple push-push-turn mechanism for dispensing boiling water. The Flex tap, in particular, includes a pull-out hose with a counterweight, allowing for extended reach and versatility. The counterweight is designed to move freely and hangs approximately 40 cm below the work surface when the hose is not withdrawn, requiring consideration during installation.

The Quooker tap is suitable for use by children above the age of eight and individuals with diminished physical, sensory, or intellectual abilities, provided they are supervised and instructed on safe usage. It is crucial to inform new users about the safe operation and potential dangers associated with boiling water. The system is suitable for both household and commercial use, including staff kitchens in various business premises and for visitors in hospitality settings.

Maintenance Features

For optimal performance and water quality, regular maintenance is recommended. The HiTAC® filter cartridge should be changed every 3 to 5 years. In areas with hard water, descaling the tank may be necessary more frequently.

The manual provides detailed instructions for disconnecting the tank for servicing. This process involves switching off the system, draining the tank by opening the boiling water tap and mixer tap until the water runs cold, isolating the water supply by closing the main shut-off or isolation valve, and then disconnecting the hoses and power plug. It is important to allow the tank to cool adequately before disconnecting it. The fastest way to cool the tank is to turn off the Quooker system but leave it plugged in, then open the boiling water tap until the water runs cold.

The design emphasizes accessibility for servicing, requiring that the tank, mixing valve, and power socket remain accessible after installation. In case of a damaged mains lead, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their agent, or a qualified technician. Users are advised to avoid spilling water on the plug and to ensure the power plug is kept out of reach of small children. The system should not be connected to a reverse osmosis system or a water softener that reduces the pH value.
