Charging Rechargeable
Ni-Cd Batteries
Caution: You must use an AC
adapter that supplies 7.5 volts and
delivers at least 300 mA. Its center
tip must be set to positive and its
plug must fit the radio’s
CHRG
jack.
The recommended adapter meets
these specifications; using an
adapter that does not could dam-
age the radio or the adapter.
Note: Charge only Ni-Cd batteries
in the radio. To prevent overcharg-
ing, use an external charger to
charge Ni-MH batteries.
1. Turn off the radio and open
the battery compartment.
2. Slide the switch inside the
compartment to
Ni-Cd
.
3. Put 4 AA Ni-Cd batteries in the
compartment as shown on the
back of the radio, then close
the cover.
4. Attach the adapter’s 3.4 mm
outer diameter/1.3 mm inner
diameter plug to the adapter
and set the tip to positive (+).
5. Connect the adapter’s plug to
the radio’s
CHRG
jack and plug
its other end into a standard
AC outlet.
6. When charging is complete
(about 15 hours), disconnect
the adapter from the outlet
and the
CHRG
jack.
