12. Troubleshooting

Device does not
power on
Batteries are low.
Poor battery contact.
Replace batteries.
Batteries are not inserted
correctly.
Reinstall batteries ensuring
correct orientation (see
section 7.3).

Batteries are too low to operate
the thermometer.

Temperature

Changes in environment or air
pressure.
Allow the thermometer to sit
for up to 30 minutes before
taking another measurement.
The measurement mode switch
is set to BODY when you are
intending to measure an object.
Set the measurement mode
switch to SURFACE.
The temperature you are try to
measure is outside this device’s
measurable range.
This device cannot measure
temperatures over 109.4°F
(43°C) in BODY mode or 212°F
(100°C) in SURFACE mode.

Allow the thermometer to sit
for up to 30 minutes before
taking another measurement.
Hair, sweat, dirt, or other
objects on the forehead are
interfering with the reading.
Remove any hair, clothing,
or perspiration covering the
forehead.

Position the thermometer a
distance of 1 to 2 inches (3 to
5cm) away from the person or
object being measured.
Moisture or water vapor has
condensed on the sensor lens.
Clean the IR sensor lens (see
section 8).
The measurement mode switch
is set to BODY when you are
intending to measure an object.
Set the measurement mode
switch to SURFACE.
The temperature you are try to
measure is outside this device’s
measurable range.
This device cannot measure
temperatures under 89.6°F
(32°C) in BODY mode or 32°F
(0°C) in SURFACE mode.

of the allowed range of 50 to

Use in a room inside the
allowed temperature range.

damaged.
