  If the signal strength meter shows a signal and BUSY appears, but there is no sound from the speaker of your Radio Shack Transceiver, make sure that DTMF is not on the display. If it is, press DTMF to turn off the DTMF page. Also, ensure that T-SQL is not on the display; if it is, press T-SQL until neither T nor T-SQL appears. Verify that VOLUME and SQUELCH are properly adjusted and that nothing is plugged into the EXT. SP jack.

  If the controls on your Radio Shack Transceiver do not operate, make sure that LOCK is not on the display. If it is, press F then LOCK to unlock the controls. Also, be sure the LOCK on the microphone is set to its leftmost position.

  If the other party cannot hear your transmission on the Radio Shack Transceiver, be sure the duplex offset is set correctly. You can also set the output power to high by pressing LOW so HIGH appears on the display.
