1.6.2 Double chronograph
Double chronographs feature two second hands, the second one, called
split-second hand, being used to measure intermediate times before instantly
catching up with the rst one and continue to measure seconds.
Benet of the double chronograph function
The way the split-second hand
progresses and stops allows for
simultaneous timing of several events or
actions starting at the same moment
but lasting different times. Several
successive periods of time are therefore
measured, and their respective lengths
can be compared. Such comparative
timing is frequently used during sports
competitions, for example to time laps
during car races.
