7.1.2.1 Windows Explorer
UseWindowsExplorerandenter\\IP,whereIPstandsfortheIPaddressortype\\MAC,whereMAC
standsfortheMACaddress(allin oneword)intotheaddressfieldandclickEnter.Itwilllistall
availablefoldersonyournetworkdrive.Tocreateapermanentlinktoyournetworkdrive,see
“MappingaNetworkDrive”.
Youcancopyfilestothene tworkdriveasifitwereafolderonyourlocaldrive.Dependingonthe
bandwidth,youcanalsoopenandplaythefilesdirectly.Ifyouexperiencelagwhenaccessingcertain
files,werecommendtransferringthedatatoyourlocaldrivefirst.
Whenyouhavetoaccessmultiplefolderswithdiffe rentpasswordsorhavemodifiedthesettings
withoutacomputerrestart,goto“Tools”anddisconnectthetemporary networkdrivefirst,before
accessinganewfolder.
7.1.2.2 Mapping a Network Drive
Mappingthenetworkdrivewillallowyoutocreateapermanentlinkthatwillbepresentevenafter
restartingthecomputer.Thispermanentlinkprovidesconvenientaccesstoyournetworkdriveand
canbeusedtostorefilewithinotherapplications.
Ifyouexperienceproblemswhentryingtoaccessthesharedfolders,disconnectallnetworkdrives,
rebootyourcomputer,restartyournetworkdriveandthentryagain.
DoubleclickonMyComputer,gototheToolsmenuandselect“MapNetworkDrive…”.
Followthesetupwizardandfillinthepathtoyournetworkdrive.ForSMB,whenenteringtheIP
address,alsoaddthesharedfoldername(e.g.\\192.168.11.11\public).ForWebDAV,copythe
internalorexternalURLandenterthatURL(e.g.http://59.124.25.118:1200/webdav/).We
recommendselectingthe“reconnectatlogon”optionwhenyoumapthenetworkdrive,otherwise
youwillhavetomapitagainafterarestart.
Oncethedrivehasbeenmapped,youareabletofindandaccessitunderMyComputer.
WhenmountingthedriveonWindowsXP,thesystemdoesnotacceptacustomportnumberfor
WebDAV.Instead,theportnumber80isusedbydefault.EntertheURLwithoutportnumber
(e.g.http://59.124.25.118/webdav/)andwhenaccessingitremotelyfromoutsidetheLAN,make
suretheexternalportissettoport80(seePortalService
inNetworkmenu)andsetupport
forwardingaccordingly.
OnWindows,bydefault,thefilesizeforasinglefilewhentransferredviaWebDAVislimitedto
50MB!ThisisalimitationoftheOperatingSystemandnotthenetworkdrive.Please

7.1.2.3 Disconnecting a Network Drive
Whenyoudon’tneedamappednetworkdriveanymore,werecommenddisconnectingit.Itisalso
necessarytodisconnectatemporarynetworkdrivewhenyoutrytologinwithanewusernameand
passwordbuthavenotrestartedthecomputerinbetween.
Double‐clickonMyComputer,gotoToolsandselect“DisconnectNetworkDrive…”.
SelectanytemporaryormappednetworkdrivesthatyouwouldliketoremoveandclickOK.
7.1.2.4 FTP
ForFTPtransfers,werecommendinstallingandusingadedicatedFTPapplication,whichcaneither
beafreeapplicationorasharewareprogram.
