Track Adjustment
Adjust the tension of the track so that there is 1 1/2''
(38mm) slack from track to bottom of the third roller
back (starting from the front, reference picture to the
right) when the machine is lifted. Too tight magnifies the
load and puts more wear on the link and sprocket tooth
contact. Increased wear also occurs at the track-link to
idler contact point and track-link to roller contact points.
More load means more wear on the entire undercarriage
system. To lift the machine, utilize the mower mounted
on the machine in its lowest position.
Avoid sharp projections when traveling.
Avoid turning fast on hard surfaces.
Be careful that no oils get on the rubber track.
Loosen the Track if too Tight
Loosen the grease zerk (1) with a wrench, twist the zerk
out far enough so that the grease begins to seep out.
Re-tighten the zerk when the desired track tension is
reached.
Tighten if the Track is too Loose
Add grease into the grease zerk until correct tension
is reached.
1
RUBBER TRACKS ARE GREATLY AFFECTED BY
TEMPERATURE.
AS THE TEMPERATURE DECREASES THE TRACK
TENSION WILL INCREASE AND SERIOUS DAMAGE
MAY RESULT, CHECK TRACK TENSION OFTEN.
