VCM100locationrequirements
Whenselectingamountinglocationitisimportanttoconsidera
numberoffactors.
Ventilation
•Ensurethatequipmentismountedinacompartmentofsuitable
size.
•Ensurethatventilationholesarenotobstructed.Allowadequate
separationofequipment.
Mountingsurface
Ensureequipmentisadequatelysupportedonasecuresurface.
Donotmountunitsorcutholesinplaceswhichmaydamagethe
structureofthevessel.
Cables
Ensuretheunitismountedinalocationwhichallowsproperrouting
andconnectionofcables:
•Minimumbendradiusof100mm(3.94in)unlessotherwisestated.
•Usecablesupportstopreventstressonconnectors.
•Themaximumlengthofcablebetweenthebatteryandthe
VCM100shouldnotnormallyexceed19.6ft.(6M).Allpower
cablelengthsshouldbekeptasshortaspossible.
Wateringress
TheVCM100issplashproof,andsuitableformountingbelowdecks
only.
Electricalinterference
Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromdevicesthat
maycauseinterference,suchasmotors,generatorsandradio
transmitters/receivers.
Magneticcompass
MounttheVCM100atleast3ft(1m)awayfromamagnetic
compass.
Powersupply
Selectalocationthatisascloseaspossibletothevessel’sDC
powersource.Thiswillhelptokeepcablerunstoaminimum.
Radarscannerlocationrequirements
Whenselectingalocationitisimportanttoconsideranumberof
factors.
Horizontalposition
Theradarscannershouldbepositionedasnearaspossibletoyour
vessel’scenterline.
Height
Theradarscannershouldnormallybemountedashighaspractical
abovethewaterline:
•Mountthescanneraboveheadheightoutofrangeofpersonnel,
toavoidmechanicaldangerandminimizeexposureto
electromagneticradiation.
•Radaroperatesattheline-of-sight,soahighmountingposition
givesbetterlongrangeperformance.
