The gain-up feature allows more light to enter the camcorder.
Some examples when you may want to add more light are:
l
When the subject is darker than the surrounding scene.
l
When the background is bright, but your subject appears too
dark. For example, a person standing in front of a window.
l
When the subject you are recording is in a shadowed area.
Note:
Recordings made using the gain-up feature may appear grainy.
To
use the gain-up feature:
1. Slide the POWER switch to turn on the camcorder. The
POWER indicator will light.
2. Make sure the CAMERA/PLAY MODE control panel is in the
CAMERA
position.
3. Press the
GAIN
UP button. The GAIN UP indicator will
appear in the electronic viewfinder.

Pressing the
GAIN UP
button turns
off
the
FULL AUTO
feature.

4. Press the GAIN UP button to turn off the gain-up feature
when lighting conditions return to normal.
