The RedHead RH360 Remote Dog Trainer is an electronic dog training system designed for general obedience training. It features Maxx-Range™ technology with an internally woven antenna in the collar, offering a 360-yard range. The system includes a transmitter and a collar receiver.
Function Description:
The RH360 provides fifteen levels of continuous stimulation intensity, selected via an easy 'no-look' clicking intensity dial. It also includes a Beep function for audible corrections. The collar unit is rechargeable and features a Quick-charge and SmartLED light to indicate charging status. The Collar Receiver is 100% waterproof, allowing it to be worn even when the dog is submerged. An automatic safety shut-off feature prevents accidental or prolonged stimulation from both the Transmitter and the Collar Receiver.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Range: Up to 360 yards.
- Stimulation Levels: 15 adjustable levels of Continuous Stimulation.
- Battery: Rechargeable Quick-Charge Li-Poly battery in the collar. The transmitter uses a 9-volt battery (not included).
- Waterproof: Collar Receiver is completely waterproof.
- Weather Resistance: Transmitter is weather resistant.
- Antenna: Industry's only internally woven antenna in the collar belt.
- Safety: Built-in safety shut-off system.
Usage Features:
Transmitter:
- Antenna: Must be securely fastened before use; hand-tighten only to prevent damage.
- Intensity Selection Dial: Allows selection of 15 different stimulation levels for precise control. The 'M' setting allows switching between regular and Battery Saving Mode.
- Continuous Stimulation Button ("Cont."): Sends a continuous stimulation from the Collar Receiver to the dog.
- Beep Button ("Beep"): Emits an audible beep from the Collar Receiver.
- Magnet Indicator (Red Mark): Marks the location of the magnet used to turn the Collar Receiver ON/OFF and for ID reprogramming.
- LED Indicator Light: Turns on when any button is pushed. Flashes rapidly when the battery is low.
- Battery Compartment: Located at the back for a 9-volt battery.
Collar Receiver:
- Collar Belt with Embedded Receiver Antenna: Adjustable to fit various neck sizes. The embedded antenna is woven into the nylon belt and is approximately 4 inches long. It is crucial not to cut the part of the collar belt with the embedded antenna, as this will damage the antenna and severely decrease the Collar Receiver range.
- Contacts: Deliver electrical stimulation to the dog's skin.
- Speaker: Emits an audible beep when the "Beep" button is pushed on the transmitter.
- LED Indicator Light: Flashes once every 2 seconds in normal mode and double-flashes every 2 seconds in Battery Saving Mode when ON. Also flashes when continuous stimulation or beep is applied. Flashes rapidly (about 3 times every 2 seconds) when the collar battery is low.
- Magnetic Switch Indicator ("M" Mark): Shows where the Magnetic Activation Switch is located, used with the Transmitter's Magnet Indicator or the Activation Magnet on the buckle to turn the Collar Receiver ON/OFF and for reprogramming.
- SmartLED Indicator Light:
- Charging: Lights solid red while charging, turns green when charging is complete (2.5 to 5 hours). A long red blink every other second indicates a charging error.
- When ON: Flashes green for 51%-100% charge, flashes red for 21%-50% charge, and flashes red rapidly every second for low battery (requires recharge).
Turning ON and OFF:
- Transmitter: Always in a permanent sleep state, only ON when a button is pressed. No need to turn OFF manually.
- Collar Receiver:
- Hold the Transmitter's Magnet Indicator (Red Mark) directly against the Collar Receiver's Magnetic Switch Indicator ("M" Mark).
- The red LED light on the Collar Receiver will light solid for about 1 second, then begin to flash.
- Remove the Transmitter as soon as the LED light starts flashing.
- The Collar Receiver is now ON and the LED light should be flashing.
To turn OFF, repeat steps 1-3. The LED light should no longer be flashing.
The Activation Magnet on the collar belt buckle can also be used to turn the Collar Receiver ON/OFF.
Battery Saving Mode:
- Reduces battery consumption in the Collar Receiver, extending battery life by approximately 30%.
- Switching Modes:
- Turn ON the Collar Receiver.
- Select 'M' on the Intensity Dial.
- Press the 'Beep' button to activate Battery Saving Mode (LED light will double-flash).
- Press the 'Cont.' button to return to regular mode (LED light will single-flash).
- Return the Intensity Dial to the desired normal setting.
- Note: In Battery Saving Mode, there may be a 0.5 to 1 second delay in the Collar Receiver's response to the Transmitter. For a more instantaneous response, use regular battery mode.
Fitting the Collar:
- Collar must be snug to ensure good contact between the electrodes and the dog's skin.
- Place the collar unit high on the dog's neck (closer to the head) with the receiver box centered below the chin.
- The collar should be tight enough to fit two fingers between the collar belt and the dog's neck, but not so tight as to restrict breathing.
- A loose collar can cause inconsistent stimulation and skin irritations from movement.
Setting the Intensity Level:
- Set the Intensity Selection dial to Level 1.
- Turn on the Collar Receiver and fit it properly.
- Press the 'Cont.' button and observe the dog for a reaction (e.g., discomfort, ears perking up, tail movements).
- If no reaction, increase the Intensity Level by one increment until the dog reacts.
- Increase the Intensity Level by one or two more for the ideal training level.
Some dogs may require more or less stimulation based on temperament and size.
Reprogramming:
If the Collar Receiver is not responding to the Transmitter:
- Hold the Transmitter's Magnet Indicator (Red Mark) directly against the Collar Receiver's Magnetic Switch Indicator ("M" Mark).
- The Collar Receiver's LED light will light solid for about 1 second, followed by 6 flashes. Keep the Transmitter in place during this time.
- Continue holding until the LED light stays on solid (Collar Receiver is now in Code Running Mode for approximately 8 seconds).
- Remove the Transmitter and simultaneously press the 'Cont.' and 'Beep' buttons while the LED light is solid.
- When the LED light blinks 3 times, the Collar ID is programmed, and the Collar Receiver is ON.
Do not remove the Transmitter from the Collar Receiver until the LED light stops flashing and stays solid.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the RH360 system for maximum performance and longevity.
- Clean the collar box with lukewarm water and a mild anti-bacterial soap.
- Thoroughly clean the space between the Contacts and the Collar Belt.
- Clean the belt and buckle with water and mild soap, then allow to dry completely.
- Always allow the entire unit to completely dry before use.
- Recommendation: Rinse the collar unit with fresh, clean water after use in wet conditions, especially in salt water.
- Battery Storage:
- Do not store the unit in extremely hot or cold conditions.
- Store the unit in a dry environment.
- Remove batteries when storing for extended periods.
- Rechargeable Batteries: Typically last 1-3 years depending on use and care. Keep away from flammable substances.
Important Safety Notes:
- Before training, ensure your dog is in good health by a veterinarian.
- Never leave your dog unattended with the unit on, as unintentional electric stimulation is a slight possibility.
- Understand all functions and proper training methods before use.
- The contacts (electrodes) are made of high-grade stainless steel to prevent chemical or allergic reactions.
- To prevent neck irritations, the collar should not be worn for more than 12 hours a day. Change the collar location daily and keep it clean. Clean electrodes regularly with mild anti-bacterial soap.
- If irritation occurs, wash the dog's neck with soap and water, wipe with Hydrogen peroxide, dry thoroughly, and apply antibiotic ointment.
