Overview

The REED R5003 is an AC Voltage/Current Datalogger designed for comprehensive monitoring and recording of electrical parameters. This instrument offers dual-channel measurement capabilities, allowing it to simultaneously record two voltage or current measurements, or one of each. Its primary function is to log AC voltage and current data over extended periods, providing valuable insights for electrical diagnostics, energy management, and system performance analysis.

Function Description:

The R5003 datalogger is engineered to capture and store up to 256,000 AC voltage and current measurements. It features a dual input system, enabling the monitoring of two distinct electrical signals concurrently. The device's LCD provides real-time display of time/date, current readings, and maximum/minimum values, offering immediate feedback to the user. A key feature is its user-adjustable sample rate, which can be set from 1 second up to 24 hours, allowing for flexible data collection tailored to specific application needs. High and low alarms can be configured to alert users when measurements fall outside predefined thresholds.

Data collected by the R5003 can be downloaded to a computer via a USB interface, where it can be analyzed using the included software. This software facilitates detailed examination of the logged data, trend analysis, and report generation. The instrument is designed for practical use, featuring a magnetic back that allows it to be securely attached to various metallic surfaces, ensuring stability during data collection. Additionally, it incorporates a low battery indicator and an auto shut-off function to conserve battery life.

The datalogger operates through a straightforward interface. To begin a new recording session, the R5003 is connected to a PC via USB, and the included software is used to configure the logging parameters. Once configured, the device can be disconnected from the PC and deployed. Measurements are initiated by pressing and holding the START/STOP button, indicated by a "REC" icon on the display. The device can be set for continuous recording, where newer data overwrites older data once the memory is full, or it can stop recording when memory is exhausted. After data collection, the R5003 is reconnected to the PC to download and analyze the stored information. The MAX/MIN button allows users to quickly review the highest and lowest AC current or voltage values recorded during a measurement session directly on the device's display.
