The maximum external static a system can handle should also be listed in the
manufactures manuals. In most cases you will find this maximum between 0.8 -1.0
in. wc.
On the diagram below the return reading is taken in the return cabinet and the
supply reading is taken in the cabinet after the blower. If the filter is mounted directly
on the cabinet and there is no access to the evaporator cabinet, this is the only way
to get the ESP on this system. These readings will be just as accurate, however it is
highly recommended that you check with the manufacturer of that system for
approval to drill test holes in their cabinet.
