The Reliable F1FR Series sprinklers are quick-response fire protection devices designed for use in fixed fire protection systems, including wet, dry, deluge, or preaction systems. These sprinklers combine the durability of a standard sprinkler with the aesthetic appeal of a low-profile decorative sprinkler. They are available in various configurations, including standard upright, standard pendent, conventional, vertical sidewall, horizontal sidewall, recessed pendent, recessed horizontal sidewall, and concealed pendent types. Low-lead versions (F1FR56LL and F1FR42LL) are also available, containing less than 0.25% lead content and NSF Certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 Annex G.
The F1FR Series sprinklers operate on a frangible glass bulb principle. The glass bulb contains a precisely controlled amount of special fluid, hermetically sealed within a glass capsule, designed for fast thermal response. At normal temperatures, the fluid exists in both liquid and vapor phases, with the vapor visible as a small bubble. When exposed to heat from a fire, the liquid expands, compressing the vapor bubble. As heating continues, the internal pressure forces the liquid to push against the bulb, eventually causing the glass to shatter. This opens the waterway, allowing water to discharge through the sprinkler and be distributed by the deflector to suppress the fire. These quick-response sprinklers have demonstrated response times in laboratory tests that are five to to ten times faster than standard response sprinklers, enabling them to apply water to a fire much more rapidly.
