GEAR LEVER HANDBRAKE POWER STEERING
To select reverse gear
(car stationary)
Move the lever to neutral, then lift
up ring 1 against the gear lever knob
to enable selection of reverse gear.
The reversing lights will light up as
soon as reverse gear is selected
(with the ignition on).
To release:
Pull the lever up slightly, press
button 2, then lower the lever to the
floor.
Theredwarninglightonthe
instrument panel will light up if
you are driving with an incorrectly
released handbrake.
To apply
Pull the lever up.
The lever should travel about
10 notches to hold the car. Your car
is fitted with self-adjusting rear
brake shoes and the handbrake
should only be adjusted during a
brake overhaul.
When the car is
stationary, apply the
handbrake fully to
ensure that the car
cannot move unintentionally.
Make sure the handbrake is
properly released when the car is
being driven, otherwise
overheating may occur.
Never leave the steering wheel on
full lock when the car is parked if
you have power-assisted steering
fitted, as this may damage the
pump.
As a general rule, you
should not switch off the
ignition when in motion,
and never on hills
(power steering and brake servo
will not function).
