Ignition-starter switch on a
vehicle with key
Stop and steering lock position

To lock: remove the key and turn the
steering wheel until the steering col-
umn locks.
To unlock: turn the key and the
steering wheel slightly.
Accessories position A
When the ignition is switched off,
any accessories (radio, etc.) will con-
tinue to function.
Ignition on position M
The ignition is switched on:
– the engine may be started.
Start position D
If the engine fails to start at the first
attempt, turn the key back to home
position before activating the
starter again.
Release the key as soon as the en-
gine starts.
NOTE:
- Do not attempt to start/
crank the engine in run-
ning/geared condition;
- Do not attempt to crank the
engine more than 5 times re-
peatedly if the vehicle does not
starts. Wait for sometime and
crank the engine. If the vehicle
did not starts, contact the near-
by authorised dealer;
Starting the engine
In cold condition: switch on the igni-
tion for several seconds before
starting the engine, so that it is easi-
er to start the engine.
Petrol injection
– Activate the starter without press-
ing the accelerator.
– Release the key as soon as the en-
gine starts.
Once switching on the ig-
nition, wait for three sec-
onds then crank the en-
gine.
Vehicles with an automated manual
transmission 🡺120.
Vehicles with an continuously vari-
able transmission 🡺124.
Stopping the engine
With the engine idling, turn the key
back to “Stop” position

.
Special note
Depending on the vehicle, acces-
sories (e.g. radio) stop working either
when the engine is switched off or
when the doors are locked.
