Why is my Rheem Water Heater not producing enough hot water?
    • J
      Jonathan MillerAug 1, 2025
Several factors could be the culprit. It's possible water usage has simply exceeded the heater's capacity, in which case you should wait for it to recover. Other potential causes include low gas pressure (check the supply and manifold pressure), the thermostat being set too low (refer to the 'Water Temperature Setting' section), leaking hot water faucets (ensure all are closed), check valve error codes (refer to gas valve error code table on page 36), the 'ON/OFF' switch being off (turn it 'ON'), the blower being unplugged (plug it in and verify the power supply), or a tripped Combustion Shutoff System (contact a qualified service technician).

What to do if main burner does not ignite on Rheem Water Heater?
    • B
      bethany18Aug 5, 2025
If the main burner isn't igniting, it could be due to an open energy shut off device, in which case the combination gas control (thermostat) should be replaced by a qualified service technician. Alternatively, the combustion shutoff device may have tripped, requiring inspection by a qualified service technician.

    • J
      joel38Aug 10, 2025
If the water is too hot, the combination gas control (thermostat) might be set too high (refer to the 'Water Temperature Setting' section of this manual). Alternatively, the combination gas control (thermostat) could be defective, requiring a qualified service technician to replace it.

How to fix yellow flame or soot on Rheem Water Heater?
    • L
      Lindsay FosterAug 14, 2025
Yellow flame or soot can be caused by scale on top of the burner, in which case you should contact a qualified service technician to remove the scale. It can also be caused by blocked vent or combustion air-inlet systems, so remove any obstructions or debris from these systems.

What to do if Rheem Power Direct Vent Water Heater relief valve producing popping noise or draining?
    • A
      Arthur LinAug 18, 2025
If your relief valve is producing popping noises or draining, it's likely due to pressure build-up caused by thermal expansion in a closed system. This is an unacceptable condition that must be corrected. Contact your water supplier or a plumbing contractor for guidance on how to resolve this. Do not plug the relief valve outlet.

How to fix rumbling noise in Rheem Water Heater?
    • B
      billymaynardAug 22, 2025
A rumbling noise is often caused by scale and sediment buildup. To resolve this, drain the water heater to remove the scale and sediment from the tank. Refer to page 28 for instructions.

What causes condensation on a Rheem Power Direct Vent Water Heater?
    • L
      Laura FreemanAug 27, 2025
Condensation can occur for a few reasons. It's common when a new heater is filled for the first time and should disappear as the water warms up. Moisture from combustion can also condense on the tank surface, which is normal and temporary. Finally, an undersized water heater can cause condensation, so ensure you're using a size that meets your needs.
