11-2-2 Background
IT managers in major account have following worries:
-need to test new printer drivers for system matching
-complex distribution of different printer drivers for each printer
-troublesome management of a lot of different printers
So the cost and time for introduction and maintenance of devises is getting higher and longer, and a lot
of IT managers want to reduce them.
To meet these requests, we will release a common driver for RICOH printing devices named “PCL6
Driver for Universal Print”.
“PCL6 Driver for Universal Print” provides easy distribution and cost saving for IT managers, easy
education for help desk, and easy operation for end users.
11-2-3 Features
-Only installing “PCL6 Driver for Universal Print” enables users to use numerous printing devices, so
that users don’t have to install each mono driver anymore. Being different from “PS Driver for Mobile
Printing”, all functions that each printing device has are available with this universal driver.
-To use all functions “PCL6 Driver for Universal Print” needs a PSD (Printer Spec Description) file that
is unique to each machine. (This is a different point from hp’s “Universal Print Driver”.) IT managers
can save their time and cost because all they have to do is a system matching test for not whole driver
but only PSD file.
