This document is an operation manual for Rinnai Portable Room Air Conditioners, models RPC35WA and RPC41WA. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description:
The Rinnai Portable Room Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling, dehumidification (DRY mode), and fan-only operation for indoor spaces. It is a self-contained unit that can be easily moved thanks to its swivel casters. The appliance expels hot air through an exhaust duct, which can be routed through a window or a semi-permanent wall installation. It features an internal condensate tank, but also offers options for fixed condensate drainage via a hose.
Important Technical Specifications:
The manual details two models: RPC35WA and RPC41WA.
- Rated Power: RPC35WA is 1600W, RPC41WA is 2000W.
- Rated Voltage: Both models operate on 220-240V 50Hz.
- Dimensions: Height: 795mm, Width: 480mm, Depth: 400mm.
- Weight: 33kg for both models.
- Rated Cooling: RPC35WA offers 3.55kW, RPC41WA offers 4.10kW.
- Rated Cooling Current: RPC35WA is 5.95A, RPC41WA is 7.89A.
- Rated Cooling Input: RPC35WA is 1.34kW, RPC41WA is 1.78kW.
- Refrigerant / Quantity: R410A / 520g for both models.
- Power Cord: 1.2m flexible 2-pin cord, 220-240V 50Hz 10A, suitable for Australian 10 Amp socket outlets.
- Exhaust Duct: Extends up to 1.8m.
Usage Features:
The air conditioner can be operated via a control panel on the unit or a remote control.
- Basic Operation Modes:
- COOL: Chilled air operation. Users can select desired temperature (16°C to 32°C) and fan speed (LOW, MED, HIGH).
- DRY (Dehumidifying): Chilled and dehumidified operation. Users can select desired temperature (16°C to 32°C).
- FAN: Fan-only operation. Users can select fan speed (LOW, MED, HIGH).
- Advanced Functions (Remote Control Only):
- TIMER (On/Off): Allows scheduling the appliance to turn ON or OFF at a specific time. The clock must be set before using this function.
- SLEEP Function: Automatically adjusts the set temperature over a 10-hour period to maintain comfort and save energy. After 10 hours, the appliance resumes normal operation. This function can be overridden by a set OFF timer.
- SWING Function: Controls the cool air outlet louvre for cyclic or fixed air movement. Pressing the SWING button starts/stops cyclic motion or fixes the louvre direction.
- Control Panel and Remote Control Layout: Detailed diagrams illustrate all buttons and indicators for intuitive operation. The remote control uses 2x AAA (1.5V) batteries and has a range of up to 15 meters. A cradle is provided for wall-mounting the remote control.
- Condensate Management: The appliance has an internal condensate tank. If the tank becomes full, operation stops, and a "P1" code is displayed, requiring manual drainage. Alternatively, a fixed condensate drain hose can be attached to one of the drain outlets (7 or 12) to continuously drain water into a tray or waste outlet. The drainage point must be lower than the outlet.
- Installation: Requires a flat, dry surface with a minimum clearance of 500mm from walls or other appliances. Easy access to a power point is necessary. The exhaust ducting options include a window installation kit (adjustable slider kit) or an optional semi-permanent wall installation. It is crucial not to over-extend the exhaust duct to prevent kinking, which restricts airflow and reduces efficiency.
Maintenance Features:
- General Maintenance: Exterior panels and display should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth after each cooling season.
- Air Filter Cleaning: There are two air filters, located behind the Room Air Intake Grill (9) and the Lower Air Intake (10). Filters should be checked and cleaned weekly during heavy use, or every 2-3 weeks for intermittent use. Cleaning involves removing the grills, un-clipping the filters, and cleaning them with a vacuum cleaner or warm water (with mild detergent if heavily soiled). Filters must be dry before re-installation. Failure to clean filters regularly can lead to excessive condensation and reduced efficiency.
- Storage: For prolonged storage, remove plugs and hoses from drain outlets (7), (8), and (12).
- Safety Precautions: Always turn off and unplug the appliance before performing any maintenance. Do not use solvents, alcohol, or harsh cleaners on the appliance or filters. Water hotter than 40°C should not be used for cleaning to avoid deformation or discoloration.
- Troubleshooting Guide: A "SAVE A SERVICE CALL" section provides common symptoms, possible causes, and solutions (e.g., appliance not operating, insufficient cool air, noise, splashing sound).
- When to Call for Service: Instructions on when to contact Rinnai service, such as burning smell, strange sounds, or circuit breaker trips.
- Authorised Installation and Maintenance: The appliance must be installed, maintained, and removed by an Authorised Person in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, current AS/NZS 3000, and local regulations/building codes. Tampering with electrical connections or components is highly dangerous.
- Warranty: A 2-year parts warranty from the date of purchase. Exclusions include accidental damage, misuse, improper maintenance, unauthorized installations, and alterations by non-Rinnai personnel.
