Overview

The provided manual describes the FASTRAX® CLEAN high-speed fabric door, a unique industrial door designed for safety, security, and productivity. This door is engineered to fit most opening configurations and helps separate different atmospheres within a facility.

Function Description:

The FasTrax® CLEAN door is a high-performance fabric door that offers rapid opening and closing speeds, contributing to energy efficiency and traffic flow. It utilizes a sophisticated i-COMM™ Universal Controller for precise operation and incorporates Soft-Edge™ Technology to minimize damage upon impact. The door's design allows for flexible "You Build It" track configurations, adapting to various architectural requirements. An I-Zone™ Area Detection System enhances safety by monitoring the door's surroundings. The door is designed for continuous operation, with features like adjustable speeds and a system free of springs, pulleys, or weights, reducing maintenance complexity.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Controller: i-COMM™ Universal Controller, which manages all door functions, including open/close positions, speed, and safety features.
  • Power Supply: The door supports various power configurations, including 3Ø 208-240V, 460-480V, 575V, and 220V 1Ø.
  • Encoder: The encoder system is crucial for accurate door positioning, measuring the overall opening distance and allowing for precise adjustments to open and close positions. It operates at a baud rate of 433 kbps.
  • Photoeyes: The door incorporates 18" and 54" photoeye inputs for safety, detecting obstructions and triggering reversals. These photoeyes have specific cut-out heights (24" for X10 PE, 60" for X11 PE).
  • Drive System: The door is driven by a motor and gearbox assembly, with drive spheres guiding the curtain. The drive tube is designed for centering over track grooves.
  • Curtain Material: Heavy-Duty Industrial Materials are used for the curtain, designed for durability and resistance to wear.
  • Track System: Features a flexible "You Build It" track design, including lower tracks with radial or non-radial configurations, and upper tracks with spreader bars to ensure proper spacing and prevent binding.
  • Mounting: The manual provides detailed instructions for mounting on various wall types, including block walls, ribbed metal walls, insulated panel walls, drywalls, concrete walls, and steel members. Minimum jamb wrap and support requirements are specified.
  • Dimensions: Door opening width and height are critical measurements for installation. The manual provides guidelines for measuring these dimensions and ensuring proper track spacing.
  • Environmental: The door is designed to operate in temperatures between 40° and 80° F [4° and 27° C] to prevent damage to contents.

Usage Features:

  • User Interface: The i-COMM™ controller features an LCD display and buttons (Up, Down, Enter, Back) for navigating menus, viewing settings, and making adjustments. An optional remote-mounted LCD with a 4-button membrane switch (Green - Open/Reset, Red - Stop, Yellow - Close, Grey - Enter) is available for convenient control.
  • Operational Modes: The door supports various operational modes, including automatic close, toggle, and manual open.
  • Safety Features: Includes an Emergency Stop, I-Zone™ Area Detection System, and photoeyes for obstruction detection. The Soft-Edge™ Technology minimizes damage upon impact. Lockout/Tagout procedures are mandatory for servicing to ensure safety.
  • Adjustable Parameters: Users can adjust open distance, close position, open position, motor drive side (rotation direction), and various timers (reclose, preannounce, autocycle).
  • Fault History: The i-COMM™ controller logs fault history, displaying the last 20 faults with date and time of occurrence, aiding in troubleshooting.
  • Wireless Activation (Optional): Supports wireless activation devices, which can be paired with the control box for remote operation.
  • Virtual Vision (Optional): An optional Virtual Vision system with motion sensors and LED light bars provides visual warnings to oncoming traffic, enhancing safety in high-traffic areas.

Maintenance Features:

  • Planned Maintenance Program (P.M.P.): RITE-HITE DOORS, INC. offers a P.M.P. that can be tailored to specific operations.
  • Lubrication: Radials and tracks require lubrication with food-grade synthetic grease (e.g., Lubriplate - FMO 85 AW 14oz Spray Bottle Pump). The manual emphasizes that lubrication is the end user's responsibility and may require removing existing grease in dirty environments.
  • Cleaning: Instructions are provided for cleaning the UHMW insert and wall seal, as well as the curtain with warm soapy water.
  • Inspections: Regular inspections are recommended for wear and damage to the curtain, drive spheres, track retention edging, and overall hardware.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A comprehensive troubleshooting section details common issues, their possible causes, and recommended actions, covering electrical, mechanical, and operational problems.
  • Service Parts: Detailed exploded views and part numbers are provided for various components, including control box service parts, lower track assemblies, and miscellaneous service parts, facilitating repairs and replacements.
  • Maintenance Reminders: The i-COMM™ controller can be configured to display "Maintenance Required" messages based on set months or cycle counts, with a reset procedure for the maintenance light.
  • Encoder Chain/Sprocket Maintenance: Regular checks for tightness of set screws on the encoder chain and sprockets are recommended.
