- Drill holes in the side brackets 11.1 at the marked points.
- Fit the tubular rivet 11.2 through the sleeve 11.3. File the
bottom of the rivet flat and drill a 1.5 mm ø cross-hole
through it (F).
- Shorten both ends of the bellcrank 11.4.
- Connect the S-hook 11.5 as shown.
- Make up the link pushrod 11.6 and connect it to the
bellcrank and the tubular rivet. Make up the pushrod 11.7 in
the same way and connect it to the bellcrank.
- Drill a 4 mm ø hole in the spacer block 11.8 and glue it to the
left-hand side bracket.
- Slip the screw 11.9 through the left-hand bracket and fit the
aluminium bush 11.10, the completed bellcrank and the
washer 11.11 on it. Fit the nut 11.12 on the screw and tigh-
ten it fully. Slide the rivet bush 11.13 into place and secure
the bush 11.3 with the screw 11.14.
- Connect the spring 11.15 to the ring-screw 11.16 and close
the loop in the ring-screw.
- Solder the locating peg 11.17 to the loop of the ring-screw.
- Connect the second loop in the spring to the S-hook 11.5.

- Push the tubular rivet 11.18 into the block 11.8 from the out-
side.
- Push the ring-screw right through the assembly.
- Press the rivet nut 11.19 into the hexagon disc 11.20 and
screw it onto the ring-screw.
- Assemble the right-hand bearing bracket and the second
rivet bush, screw and nut. Glue the spacer block to the right-
hand bearing bracket.
- Glue the completed mechanism to the pressure vessel;
check that it is central and aligned with the conning tower
bulkhead 2.13 (F).
- Connect the pushrods 10.9 and 11.7 using the collets 11.21
and grubscrews 11.22. Ensure that the hydroplane is hori-
zontal and the tubular rivet 11.2 vertical before you tighten
the grubscrews.
- Locate the tube 11.23 which forms part of the depth control
mechanism and file the bottom end of it to a wedge shape
on both sides. Cut a slot in the top end of the tube at right-
angles to the bottom wedge. Cut the screen 11.24 to shape,
curve it as shown and glue it in the slot.
- Push this assembly into the tubular rivet 11.2.

- Slip the collet 12.1 and grubscrew 12.2 onto the spacer tube
1.7 which was soldered to the threaded rod 1.8 in Stage 1,
followed by the washer 12.3.
- Solder the spacer tube in the central tube 12.4 using plenty
of solder, taking care to keep to the stated dimensions.
Solder the washer and collet to the assembly at the same
time. Check that these parts are in line and stay true when
rotated.
- Fit the rubber gasket 12.5 in the ring 12.6 and push it on the
spacer tube 1.7. Solder the socket-head cap screw 12.7 in
the front end of the tube.
- Cut out and drill the guide cone 12.8 over the top, fit and
align it carefully and glue it in place.
- For additional security we recommend that you drill a 1.5
mm Ø cross-hole in the central tube 12.4 in the region of the
solder joints, by the screw 12.7 and the spacer tube 1.7 and
fit a retaining pin through the holes.
- File out the guide bulkhead 12.9 to clear the ever 10.5 as
shown in the sketch.
- Place the complete central screw assembly in the front hull
section. At the same time thread the large guide former 12.9
into place, but do not glue it at this stage. Route the screw
