Unpack the ROHO cushioning product to ensure proper performance and personal satisfaction.
Verify all components: cushion, cover, manual, and air pump. Note cover's recommended use.
Position the ROHO cushion on the chair, ensuring it is centered and right side up with the valve in the front left corner.
Turn the air valve counter-clockwise to open it for inflation.
Identify the pump, noting its flexible rubber hose.
Slide the pump's collar securely over the cushion's air valve.
Pump air into the cushion until it begins to arch slightly upward.
Remove the pump and quickly close the air valve clockwise to prevent air loss.
Gently place the person onto the chair, confirming the ROHO cushion is centered underneath.
Have the individual sit on the cushion in their normal sitting position.
Slide hand between cushion and person to feel for the lowest bony prominence.
Locate the ischial tuberosity ('sit bones') by lifting the person's leg slightly if needed.
Rotate the valve counter-clockwise to release air while keeping hand under sitting bones.
Allow the cushion to lower until fingertips can barely move (approx. 1.5 inches / 1.25 cm).
Rotate the air valve clockwise to close it securely.
Confirm approximately 0.5 inch air gap. Avoid 'bottoming out' for effectiveness.
