The E-38 is supplied with a preset
oriental Scale with C and B lowered
by a quarter tone compared to the
standard tuning.
To activate this tuning press the
KBD SCALE button (26) until the
corresponding indicator lights.
At power on, the standard tuning
will be reset (equal temperament).
USING MIDI
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument
Digital Interface — an industry-wide
communications standard for the
exchange of performance
information among MIDI-equipped
instruments and devices.
Before making any connections with
other devices, be sure the E-38 and
all external devices are turned off.
There are two MIDI sockets on the
E-38's rear panel:
a) MIDI IN:
This socket is used to receive
performance information from an
external MIDI device. The data
received here can control the E-38,
just as if its buttons and keys were
being pressed.
*The data received by this socket is
not re-transmitted through the MIDI
OUT socket.
b) MIDI OUT:
This socket is used to transmit the E-
38's performance data to some
external MIDI device, thereby
controlling its sounds and functions.
NOTE:
Use only proper MIDI cables
(optional) when connecting the E-38
to other MIDI instruments.
For further information about MIDI,
please refer to ‘MIDI Guide’.
When using the E-38 to control
sound modules (or synthesizers),
connect the devices as shown in
figure A.
When a MIDI sequencer (or
keyboard) is used to control the E-
38, connect the devices as shown in
figure B.
Be sure to set the MIDI Computer
interface switch (4) in position
MIDI.
Der E-38 enthält eine
vorprogrammierte arabische
Stimmung, bei der das C und H
einen Viertelton tiefer gestimmt sind
als bei der wohltemperierten
Stimmung.
Um diese Stimmung aufzurufen,
müssen sie KBD SCALE (26) driicken,
bis die dazugehòrige LED leuchtet.
Nach jedem Einschalten des E-38
wird automatisch die Standard-
Stimmung (wohltemperierte Skala)
angewählt.
MIDI-FUNKTIONEN
MIDI steht für “Musical Instrument
Digital Interface” und ist ein
weltweiter Standard für elektronische
Musikinstrumente zum Austausch
von MIDI-Daten. Genauer gesagt,
handelt es sich um eine genormte
Schnittstelle, über die MIDI-
kompatible Instrumente Musikdaten
austauschen können.
Bevor Sie den E-38 mit einem
anderen MIDl-Instrument verbinden,
schalten Sie alle beteiligten
Instrumente aus. Der E-38 ist mit
zwei MIDl-Buchsen ausgestattet:
a) MIDI IN
Über diese Buchse kann der E-38
MIDI-Daten von anderen
Instrumenten empfangen. Diese
Daten haben den gleichen Effekt wie
das Spielen und Anwählen von
Klängen usw. auf dem E-38.
* Die über diese Buchse
empfangenen Daten werden nicht
über MIDI OUT ausgegeben.
b) MIDI OUT:
An dieser Buchse liegen die Daten
des E-38 selbst an (also alle Noten,
die Sie und/oder das Instrument
spielen). Diese Daten kônnen von
anderen MIDI-Instrumenten
empfangen werden.
ANMERKUNG:
Verwenden Sie ausschlieflich MIDI-
Kabel (Sonderzubehòr) für die MIDI-
Verbindungen.
Weitere Hinweise beziiglich des
MIDI-Standards entnehmen Sie bitte
dem beiliegenden Heft tiber MIDI.
Wenn der E-38 Soundmodule oder
externe Synthesizer ansteuern soll,
verbinden Sie die Instrumente wie in
Abbildung A gezeigt.
Soll der E-38 von einem Sequenzer
(oder einem anderen
Tasteninstrument) aus angesteuert
werden, nehmen Sie bitte die in
Abbildung B gezeigten Anschlüsse
vor.
Schieben Sie den Computer-Schalter
(4) auf jeden Fall in die Position
“MIDI”.

le SI baissés d'un quart de ton.

rallumé, le tempérament redevient

COMMENT SE CONNECTER
A D'AUTRES APPAREILS
DOTES DU MIDI.
M.I.D.I. est l'acronyme de Musical
Instrument Digital Interface (interfa-
ce numérique pour instrument de
musique). Le MIDI est un standard
gráce auquel tous les instruments de
musique équipés de connexions
MIDI peuvent échanger des
données.
Avant de connecter d'autres appa-
reils, éteignez le E-38 et les autres
appareils MIDI.
Il y a deux prises MIDI en face
arriére du E-38:
a) Prise MIDI IN, pour recevoir les
signaux MIDI venant d'appareils
MIDI externes devant piloter le E-38
et l'utiliser comme source sonore.
* Les signaux recus en MIDI IN ne
sont pas renvoyés par la MIDI OUT.
b) Prise MIDI OUT, pour émettre les
messages du E-38 afin de piloter des
appareils MIDI externes.
Utilisez des cábles MIDI (option-
nels) pour relier les unités. Pour plus
de détails, veuillez lire attentive-
ment le "Guide MIDI" fourni.
Si vous utilisez le F-38 pour piloter
des modules de sons ou synthéti-
seurs externes, connectez les unités
comme indiqué en figure A.
Quand un séquenceur ou clavier de
commande MIDI externe sert à pilo-
ter le E-38, connectez les unités
comme indiqué en figure B.
S'assurez que le sélecteur
"Computer Interface" (4) soit en
position "Midi".
