Do you have a question about the Ryobi FVRC50 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The RYOBI USB Lithium 1/4 in. Ratchet (FVRC50) and USB Lithium 3/8 in. Ratchet (FVRC51) are compact and versatile power tools designed for various fastening applications. These ratchets are part of the USB Lithium system, offering portability and convenience for users.

Function Description

The RYOBI USB Lithium Ratchets are designed to tighten and loosen fasteners, such as nuts and bolts, with the convenience of a powered tool. They feature a forward/reverse dial to control the direction of rotation, allowing for both tightening and loosening tasks. A switch trigger activates the tool, and a lock-out switch prevents accidental operation. An integrated LED worklight illuminates the work area, enhancing visibility in dimly lit spaces. The tools are powered by a USB Lithium battery pack, which is rechargeable and easily replaceable.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Product Specifications:
    • No load speed: 0-220/min. (RPM)
    • Manual Torque: 50 ft-lbs.
    • Motor Torque: Up to 140 in-lbs.
  • Battery System: USB Lithium
  • Socket Size: 1/4 in. (FVRC50) and 3/8 in. (FVRC51)
  • LED Light Functions: The tools feature an LED worklight that illuminates when the trigger is pressed. The battery status is indicated by the LED light, with different colors or flashing patterns signifying normal, low battery, excessive force, or over temperature conditions.
  • Variable Speed Switch Trigger: The variable speed switch trigger delivers higher speed with increased trigger pressure and lower speed with decreased trigger pressure, offering precise control over the fastening process.
  • Lock Out Switch: A lock-out switch is located on the handle above the switch trigger. This switch must be in the unlocked position before the tool can be operated.
  • Manual Torque Capacity: The manual torque capacity of the ratchet is 50 ft-lbs. Applying additional force could cause damage to the tool.

Usage Features

  • Installing and Removing Battery Pack: To install the battery pack, align the ribs on the battery with the grooves in the tool's port and push until it clicks into place. To remove, depress the latch and pull the battery pack out.
  • Installing and Removing Sockets: Select the correct size socket for nuts and bolts. Push the socket onto the anvil until it detents. To remove, pull the socket off the anvil.
  • Operating the Ratchet: The ratchet head may become hot during periods of extended use or when the tool is under stress. Allow the ratchet head to cool completely before touching it.
  • Forward/Reverse Dial: Adjust the forward/reverse dial on the back of the ratchet head to choose the desired rotation direction of the socket.
  • Holding the Tool: Hold the tool in front of the workpiece with the socket over the nut or bolt. Depress the switch trigger and fasten or loosen as desired.
  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well lit. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
  • Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
  • Ratchet Safety Warnings: Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
  • Personal Safety: Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
  • Hearing Protection: Wear hearing protection during extended periods of operation.
  • Eye Protection: Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
  • Respiratory Protection: Wear a dust mask or respirator when the work produces dust.
  • Hand Protection: Wear appropriate gloves to protect hands from sharp edges or abrasive surfaces.
  • Battery Pack Usage: Use only with specifically designated battery packs. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer.
  • Cold Weather Operation: When operating in cold weather, the battery pack may need a warm-up period before full operating power of the tool is reached. Use the tool in a light duty application. After about a minute, the battery pack will warm up and begin operating normally.

Maintenance Features

  • General Maintenance: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other part could create a hazard or cause product damage.
  • Cleaning: Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and can be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
  • Battery Pack Maintenance: Periodically inspect the battery pack for any damage or wear. If damaged, replace it with a new one.
  • Tool Storage: Store the tool in a clean, dry place away from children and unauthorized users.
