Function Description

The RYOBI FVH51 is an electric carving tool powered by a lithium-ion battery and charged via a USB cable. Its primary function is to facilitate wood carving, offering precision and control for various carving tasks. The tool operates by rapidly moving a carving blade, allowing users to shape and detail wood surfaces. It is designed for both intricate work and broader shaping, making it suitable for hobbyists and professionals alike. The device includes various power carver accessories, a USB cable for charging, and a wrench for blade changes.

Strokes Per Minute (SPM): The power carver operates at a maximum speed of 14,000 strokes per minute (SPM), providing efficient material removal and smooth finishes.

Charging: The device is charged via a USB cable, offering convenient charging options from various USB power sources. Only UL-listed USB sources should be used to prevent fire hazards.

- Overload Protection: If the motor is overloaded, the tool will automatically shut off. After a 5-second wait, sliding the on/off switch to the OFF position and then to the ON position will resume operation.

Battery Installation/Removal: The battery pack is installed by unscrewing and removing the battery cap, inserting the battery pack, and then replacing the cap.
Accessory Installation/Removal: To change accessories, the clamp nut is loosened counterclockwise using the provided wrench. The desired accessory is then inserted, and the clamp nut is tightened clockwise to secure it. It is crucial to allow the motor to come to a complete stop before engaging the spindle lock to prevent damage.
Operation:
- Powering On/Off: The tool is turned on by sliding the on/off switch to the ON position and turned off by sliding it to the OFF position.
- Carving Techniques: The manual illustrates two primary grip methods for carving: the "Golf grip" method for general carving and the "Pencil grip" method for more detailed and precise work. - Avoid operating the tool in explosive atmospheres or wet conditions.
- Keep children and bystanders away from the work area.
- Ensure the tool is in the OFF position before connecting to a power source or inserting the battery pack.
- Remove any adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool on.
- Do not overreach and maintain proper footing and balance.
- Wear appropriate clothing; avoid loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts.

General Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, and grease. Solvents can damage plastic components.
