    • L
      Laura PhamAug 3, 2025
If the motor runs but the chain doesn't rotate, it might be due to the following reasons: * The chain brake is engaged: Release the chain brake. Refer to the Operating the Chain Brake section in this manual. * The chain tension is too tight: Re-tension the chain. Refer to the Adjusting Chain Tension section in this manual. * There is damage to guide bar and chain assembly: Inspect the guide bar and chain for damage. What to do if my Ryobi RY40505 Chainsaw bar and chain running hot and smoking?
    • M
      moorejosephAug 16, 2025
If the bar and chain are running hot and smoking, it could be due to several reasons. First, check the chain tension to ensure it's not too tight. Refer to the Chain Tension section in this manual for guidance. Next, verify that the chain oil tank is not empty. If the tank has oil, run the saw at half throttle for 30 to 45 seconds, then stop it and check for lubricant dripping from the guide bar. If there's no lubricant, contact a qualified service center.
