Maintenance
General Recommendations
• Afterthersttwoorthreeanchorrecover-
ies,checkthemountingnutstoensurethat
thewindlassisstillfastenedtightlytoyour
deck,asitshouldnowbebedded-in.
• Regularlywashdowntheexteriorofyour
windlasswithfreshwater.
• Examineallelectricalconnectionsfor
possiblecorrosion,cleanandlightlygrease
asnecessary.
• Anchorrodespliceshouldbecheckedregu-
larlyandremadeifthereisanyevidenceof
wear.
• TheGypsyshouldbeexaminedonareg-
ularbasis,becauseitisahighwearitem.
TheGypsyisdesignedforshortscopesof
chainandwilllastlongerifproperlyused.
Troubleshooting
Anchor Rode pays out independently while
windlass is not in use
Thisproblemisaresultofnotsecuringtheanchor
rodecombinedwiththeGypsyDriveCapbeing
slack.TightentheGypsyDriveCapusingthe
toolprovidedandalwayssecuretheanchorrode
independentlyofthewindlasswheneveritisnot
beingdeployedorrecovered.
ElectricalTroubleshooting
Aswithmostelectricalmarineequipmentthe
majorityofproblemsthatariseareelectricalin
nature.Thereforeitisessentialthattheproper
voltagebemaintained.Thepropervoltageona12
Voltsystemis13.5Volts.(Constantlowvoltage
willdestroythemotor).Ensurethatelectricalcable
sizeislargeenoughtohandlethecurrentdraw
imposeduponitandkeepthevoltagedropwithin
acceptablelimits.Inanycircumstancevoltage
dropdueentirelytocableresistanceshouldnot
exceed10%.
